PICTURE POST II!

After a beautiful weekend, temps got into the 50's. We awoke this morning to 30 degrees and a healthy few inches of snow.

Going to the Bronx Zoo is definitely on our list of things to see while we're living in New York.

On Sunday we took in the Easter Bonnet Parade and had our picture taken. The guy showed me the picture on his camera and it really captured the moment but I never asked him for his contact info.

Just for the heck of it I decided to search Flickr for pictures from the parade and incredibly I found it!

He has disabled downloading of his pictures but I'm hoping he'll be nice enough to send me a copy. Being the person who does most of the picture taking I don't have that many shots of my daughter and I.

Reminds me of my recent trip to the North Carolina State Zoo. Great trip. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

I love that photo of the two Doctors. When I first saw it on my news feed on Facebook I'm certain I had the silliest grin and look on my face.

Thanks, Tora Ziyal!

Lovely photo of your family! Looks like you all had a great time!

I made this for my little sister, because I am an awesome big sister. It is officially the Best Photoshop Ever:
Awesome is the operative word. :techman:

I might have to take a pic of the snow that's coming down in my area right now. It's not every day this part of Virginia sees white flakes in April unless there's a coke bust.

My aunt lives in Hillsville Virginia and she says its snowing there as well. We're predicted to get some more snow over the weekend, everything has melted today because of it being warm. We got over a foot of snow the first three days of April, when you consider that Syracuse got less then a foot of snow the whole month of January, so talk about a start to your spring.

Oh yeah, Hillsville and that entire area has been getting hit with some pretty significant snowfall over the past few hours. It looks like it might be transitioning over to sleet in my town, but there's still a Winter Weather Warning in effect for the moment.

Good place, actually. But then, I'm a little partial. Most towns and cities in Virginia are good places.

WARNING: Proud Auntie will be showing off her nephews again.

Why? Because my nephew is 3 and he is cooler than any of you will ever be:

And my other nephew has the bluest eyes ever blued:

And because I live 3,000 miles away from my family, and sometimes sharing pictures of my beautiful mother and beautiful big sister make me feel a little closer:

Because my sister is a wonderful mother, who sometimes forgets what a stunning smile she has, even without makeup:

And because of this smile too:

Very pretty pics. I don't remember ever seeing a photograph of your mom. Is this the first one of her that you've posted?

I think I've posted this one before:

I like that picture, because she looks like me a bit. I don't really look like either of my parents, but in the rare photo you can tell. Me, looking like my mom:

My mom is an amazing woman. She's been through more than most people could even imagine (she won't write a memoir because she says no one would believe it, and that's probably true), and though things were hard for our family, she always did everything she could for us kids. I hate to play the stereotypes, but she is the Strong Indian Woman. :)

She beat abuse, racism, drug addiction, poverty, homelessness, and cancer. Three years ago she was in a wheelchair, barely able to walk. Now she doesn't even use a cane, just her leg brace:

This is her at my age. I took this picture:

And I can see my big brother's face in her's. He's gone now, but he was out and proud at 15, and was always loved and accepted because of my mom's strength. I took this picture too, the year before he died (I was 12):

And here she is with my little sister, still having a sense of humor despite the shit hand life dealt her, and leaving me to wonder again how someone so white could have come from some one so brown:

And that is my impromptu tribute to my amazing mother.

ETA: And one more, because fuck it, I'm sentimental on ambien, and she looks as beautiful at 53 with her grandson as she ever did!
