Picard Show character breakdowns

These might be real, but there is no way that the names are.

The pilot is named Connie. Like "take the conn."
The guy who is a "lethal weapon" is named K'Bar. Like...Kabar. Which is a lethal weapon.
The guy who techs the tech...is named Starton. Start. On.
The hologram is named Dr. Smith. Just about the most generic name one can pick.

These kinds of names are often not real, of course. But yikes, I sure hope those aren't the names.

On, and the working title is "Drawing Room?" Assuming they mean working title and not code name...it's hard to believe that would ever, ever be the working title.

I was going to reply with "I've followed the development of every new Star Trek series since DS9, and sometimes these names change," then I realized shooting is only a month away. So these names, I'd think, would be pretty close to final. If the list of characters is accurate.

But at the same time: what type of a name is "Crusher"? If we're looking back. Especially to give to a Doctor. "Hi, I'm looking for medical assistance." "I'm going to crush you!"

2389 works better than 2399 because it makes the destruction of Romulus feel more immediate. Only two years later, there's still a real urgency about what just happened. At 12 years later, it's more like "Why has Picard been sitting on this so long?" or you wonder "What happened during the other 12 years?"

With just two years, no one would be wondering what Picard was doing. He commanded the Enterprise until 2387 and it took him two years -- and a lot of work -- to plan out everything afterwards he wants to do now. Pretty straight-forward.
actually yes that makes a lot of sense.

regarding this Star Pirate aspect of the show I guess if this is true it'll be moving along the lines of what we saw in Trek III (merchant ship, Bones in the bar, stealing the Ent), Unification, Gambit, and even Renegades .. and The Chase with all the archaeological quest

I hope this is just a bunch of fanwank BS, because this sounds completely uninteresting to me.
It reads like bullsh*t to me. I'm sure variety, and deadline or better yet EW will have real info than that on a later date when there's something to actually promote.

I'm getting a Prometheus vibe. Not the plot, but the basic idea of a collection of people out in search of something and Picard/Weyland put it together. Except one has good intentions and the other didn't.

yes that's possible as well. also Prometheus made me think back to Trek V with quest for god, sinister deity stuff on barren world etc (and lots of space pirate stuff in V too)

I'm glad someone said it. The more I think about this article, the more I truly hope it's garbage.

I remember reading an article in early 1987 that detailed the names of TNG characters. The android named "Data" stood out as being particularly ridiculous. But thirty years later, he's firmly entrenched in Trek Lore (pun semi-intended).

Yeah, that's pretty dumb too.

I'd just assumed this was going to be some kind of Trek political thriller with Picard as some kind of Federation head honcho dealing with some crisis. so these kind of characters seemed out of place, except I'm probably wrong so they won't be. I'm sure the show will be fine whatever it is. I just really liked my idea because I loved imagining Old Man Picard grousing at everyone and calling people out on their shit.

:hugegrin::hugegrin::hugegrin::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

Well, she did crush a Scottish ghost during TNG's final season ;);) :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

That's what I'm hoping for as well. Make it so!!

We also got a confirmation this weekend from 'Picard" director Hannah Culpepper that the series has begun the process of casting its actors

https://comicbook.com/startrek/2019/03/03/star-trek-picard-series-casting/

Taken the two sources together, I have more confidence that the character descriptions leaked earlier is credible and is likely taken from the character descriptions circulated among prospective agents/talent scouts.

Characters sound interesting, except for the 20-something insecure female for millennial audiences. Another Tilly to drag down the show is not needed.

The only required ethnicity in the casting breakdowns seems to be for Connie. They want her to be a Black female. It sounds like she's also the Captain of the ship. This will probably be the main lead next to Picard. I wonder if they already have an actor picked here.

Alana, being older than the others, could be a love interest for Picard.

I'm guessing Starton could be the show's weird prosthetic alien character.

Not liking the idea of the angsty teenage Romulan.

Hoping they further explain how a single super nova was going to destroy the galaxy

As for the characters, meh. On paper they might have some interest, but seen how quickly that went down the drain before.
