I think the difference between the threats in Disco, S4 in particular, is that the majornthreat starts up early, them becomes the entire focus of the season.
The first and third season of Picard, the existential threat is only revealing itself slowly from other things. As such, mosy of yhe focus on.the series has wound outwards from personal perils. Same thing for Pic S1. The threat, in the way it was presented in S2 of Picard, is also introduced immediately, and that was also the season that was criticised most. However, there was much more about Pic S2 to criticise, that that point took a back seat.
I'm not saying it's fair that Disco is more heavily attacked on that point thay Picard is, just making an observation about the execution of said threats, and wondering if that factors into the overall satisfaction of each season.
