You might have a point.
It might be easier for Sir Patrick to fly to Toronto to do a movie than it would be to film a series for three seasons.
I thought of that very Simpsons episode as well when I head this. Only now it will likely be something like the ship is in pitch battle to the death and Picard is sleeping in the Captain's chair and someone says "We need to wake him up. We are under attack;" and the other person is like "No let him sleep. He gets cranky if he doesn't get his full 8 hours in."
It ain't like they'd fly him up in economy class and put him up in a cheap Hamilton motel, down by the water.

So…’movie.’ Do they mean ‘movie’ in the sense of the low-budget TV-movie schlock they’re gonna do for that Section 31 thing? Or a theatrical film for the big screen? ‘Cause Sir Patrick has clout, but not that much clout. The last Star Trek movie he was in bombed. This idea (if it’s even a legit thing) has ‘direct to DVD’ written all over it. 
Hopefully the film takes place during that one-year gap in the finale so they can “borrow” the old girl again for a personal mission. Or she was held in Service during that year because of their heroic actions and is now on a good will tour under Captain Riker, whose dream has come true after all and supports Jean-Luc on his new adventure, who now enjoys being the one to lead the "away team".

Paramount has had "Star Trek 4" in a holding pattern since 2016.

I would like to see a story that explores Picard/Laris, Picard/Beverly, or both. I also wouldn't mind Picard spending more time with Jack.
Even though it's Data, not Picard, a scene with Data and Soji should've happened in Picard Season 3, although I can't think of a natural place for where it would fit. So, if they could fit it into here, I'd be all for it.
Basically, all the stuff I would've liked to have seen if Picard had gone into a fourth season of itself.

Worf gets a clue, that alternative Tasha Yar ist still alive contrary to Sela's statement in the past and is being held captive deep in former romulan space. The old crew feels obliged to bring her home and borrows the old girl in a humorous way, because starfleet refuses to authorize a rescue mission. They replacing the ship in the fleet museum with an advanced hologenerator, so it seems that she is still there from the outside. Then we get the final fight with Sela which we never had on TNG.

They also have two other films allegedly in development (Star Trek 4 and the Section 31 films), and Patrick Stewart had ideas like giving his IRL wife an unexplained cameo at the end of S3 of Picard. I don't really expect this project to go anywhere, and to be honest, I don't think it would be any good. I feel that S3 was more them getting lucky rather than them learning from their mistakes.
Section 31 is supposed to start shooting later this month.
Star Trek 4 isn't happening. Anyone (in general) who thinks it is has lied to themselves. If they don't view it as a priority, they're in no hurry to make it, and it'll continue to be put off indefinitely. If they do view it as a priority, they'll go with someone who can get it made and -- after what we've seen during the last eight years -- it isn't Bad Robot. Which means it won't be JJ Abrams' Star Trek 4, it'll be someone else's Star Trek 1. But I don't think that someone else is going to be Secret Hideout. So, whatever does or doesn't happen with the next cinematic film isn't going to have anything to do with the TV Movies.

I hope it is ST:Legacy rather than a feature centered on the TNG cast.
S3 was a perfect send off for the crew and characters. I might want to see more of those characters, but certainly not as a central focus. And if we do see them, I want them content. Not miserable, broken down, bitter weirdos who end up dead for no reason.

Correct. I'd be really happy to see these characters again, but not as a central focus of a show. The last year of Trek with SNW and Picard S3 (and LD) gave me some hope for the future of the series, it really felt like both finally managed to capture the wonder and optimism about humanity (apart from a few major hiccups in SNW) that was previously lacking.
Yeah I'm hoping if there turns out to be some "there" there, that Picard and the TNG crew would just have cameos. The more Picard could be in this potential thing, the more Stewart would want to have creative input. And he doesn't have the best track record on that front.

They're going to want someone who can go big (Ryan Coogler? Taika Waititi?)
Playing small hasn't done Paramount any favors.
Not to freak anyone out with time marching on, but the gap between NEM and ST09 was 6 1/2 years. We're already almost 8 years post STB.
