I downloaded it last night, read it, it was ok, just seemed a little short, but that's probably just me not reading many things of this medium in the past.
As for the Odyssey Class, I've seen the models Eaglemoss have done and I know it's been around a while, but it's a rather fugly looking ship.

Now that the comic is out, I will update this thread to warn of spoilers so you can all start discussing the contents openly.
There is a LCARS'ish looking display in the admiral's office in the show's trailers.
Also we never got any clear of consoles in this issue. But even if we did, they'd probably be based off how they look in STO.
One of the STO devs confirmed that the use of the Odyssey class was a collaboration with CBS and IDW.

I thought the first issue was good, a promising start, but too short for the $5 price. I enjoyed the artwork a lot and I thought the new uniforms, the USS Verity, and the glimpses we got of the Romulans was all neat. I like when the Romulan Star Empire being shown is an empire, with other subject worlds/peoples. It was also nice seeing Geordi again, though I wonder if his appearance here means we might not get to see him in the first season of Picard, or much in the first season, and this was compensation.
$5 an issue is steep, picked it up yesterday. I am a sucker for Star Trek...
It was a set-up issue, serving its purpose well. Liked the Verity (really enjoyed that it wasn't the Enterprise), the new uniforms and XO Raffi.
It this bi-weekly or a monthly title? Hard to get four issues out before the 1/23 launch date if it is monthly.

Only three issues? Then monthly makes more sense. Thought it was four for some reason.
It's three issues released monthly. The last one comes out on January 29, though.

Couple thoughts:
The Romulans are an immigrant species, not native to the Romulan system. They may have terraformed Romulus (and partially Remus) and transplanted flora and fauna and Remans from other systems in their Empire.
Or, the old Praxis explanation: the Romulans did something to their own sun ("subspace mining" or such) in an attempt to extend its longevity or make their own wormhole or whatever, and this backfired when the sun decided it would explode instead.
Yeah, but there's no good reason to colonize a planet around a supernova-candidate star in the first place. Aside from the supernova risk, they're actually quite rare, and immensely outnumbered by Main Sequence yellow stars and red dwarfs. So there are always going to be better options relatively nearby.
Maybe supernova-candidate systems are extremely rich in dilithium? The Rigel Colonies, Romulus, even Antares could've been started as dilithium mines that grew into civilizations. Remus would've been the mine, and Romulus the lush estate of the overseers that later vied for control over an Empire (situated at Romii perhaps) in the millennia or so following their self-imposed exile.
I think it's way more likely that it was the Dominion, not Section 31.

I think it's nice when the bad things that happen in fiction are not the work of some deep, sinister conspiracy.
In the case it is a natural occuring disaster, wouldn't the Romulans know much earlier about the fact than we are led to believe?
And there is the thing that the nova might travel through subspace, which doesn't happen with ordinary supernovae...
What speaks especially for the Dominion being the culprit behind it, is that the female founder promised revenge for the Cardassian/Romulan joint attempt to eradicate them. Why should they only go after the Cardassians when the Romulans were also part of this?
And the Bashir changeling already tried to cause a supernova in the bajoran system...

Crazier stuff has happened in Star Trek. It could be an "natural disaster," but an accidental one caused by using too many starships in the Romulan solar system (going to warp with singularities too close to the sun), or by mining the sun "safely" for fuel or something. Basically an environmentalist method with pseudoscience dropped on top.

I'm not really sure if it's canon, but according to STO the nova travelled through subspace.
