Two things.
1: Is Titan's sci officer one of Jaylah's species?
2: Anyone else pick up on possible Peter F. Hamilton's Salvation references in the first few chapters?
Vayan - exodus and a generation ship.

Edit: Oi, James! You're in here! Nice! So, was that deliberate? Or just a happy coincidence?

I also really loved the Gurney Halleck line given to Picard.

That's a salute to Sir Patrick's performance in Dune.

1: Yes.
2: I haven't read the Salvation novels, so any similarities there are purely coincidental!

Awesome. Love that inclusion!
Ah well. Figured it might've been a coinkydink. The old PFH-obsessed mind doing its thing.

Anyway,
Absolutely love the way you describe Thaddeus at the start. Such a bittersweet thing, considering...
His burping out the Klingon alphabet was just... Every meme. Every joke about Riker, passed down to his son.
Beautiful.

Oh right the USS Robinson was Sisko's ship in the old novel continuity.

Well that's factually wrong.

Picard is in the same timeline as all the other TV series.
Oh, I know. I just find it hard to believe that things in the Federations could decline so much in such a relatively brief period of time and..................oh.......yeah.

The Dominion war was a B*tch
This is the same federation that used the cure for the Changeling disease as leverage for a peace treaty.
And wanted to commit genocide on the Borg.

I never thought of it before but would the Anti-Borg program have resulted in the deaths of large numbers of drones or just the collapse of the collective. (Yes that would have resulted in some deaths just because of the chaos but that would have been a secondary effect.)

LAFORGE: If this works the way I think it will, once the invasive programme starts spreading, it'll only be a matter of months before the Borg suffer total systems failure.
PICARD: Comments.
CRUSHER: A question. What exactly is total systems failure?
DATA: The Borg are extremely computer dependent. A systems failure will destroy them.
CRUSHER: I just think we should be plain about that. We're talking about annihilating an entire race.

Yes! We wanted to get it to you as quickly as possible. Had a fantastic time with James on this one!

Literary Treks seems to have released the episode slightly earlier this week.

I've read a few chapters of the dark veil and really like how Will Riker and Deanna Troi's story in this book. I really like Thaddeus Riker their sons story in this novel. And Also the Romulan Commanader Maddak.

I just finished. As a bridge between TNG and PIC, it seemed to work. Seeing Spock also was a plus and a link to the JJ 2009 movie.
Will have to listen to the podcast.

Great Interview with James Swallow talking about The Dark Veil. I finished this book last night. I voted Outstanding. I really liked this book alot.

Thanks for listening! Had a great time talking to James about this book. I thought it was a great book.

Also, I'm assuming that Thad's repair at the hands of the Jazari is going to be connected to his death. Really, seeing Thad in this, all the time was rather tragic.
Yes, I was expecting something more explicit there than happened. The bit about Thad dying because of the synth ban seemed so contrived on screen (since when are cures grown in positronic matrices? why would the Federation take away a medicine like that if they were?) but I was expecting The Dark Veil to make some kind of sense of it by establishing the Jazari cured him in a way that required continuous support from their technology.

I could imagine that it was kept deliberately vague, just in case the show establishes something else later on.
