Phase II- Blood and Fire teaser released!!

fact of the matter is the future Roddenberry universe was so positive and was such a place of hope because of diversity (whether or not Gene practiced it himself--the philosophy is no less valid).

one of the things i find so amazing about trek conventions is they are about inclusion. many pot-shots can be taken at the fans seen at conventions, but, for at least one day, everyone can feel like they belong. this is what trek has been so progressive about--teaching us values and, indeed, the value of people different from ourselves.

if that isn't something someone would want their family to experience, it might be useful to examine how values currently held measure up to the future as portrayed by trek.

Post, not poster guys. Or better yet, just ignore it.
Knowing from past experience that the poster has no interest in debating the topic he keeps raising, then addressing his post is wasted energy. It's far more fun to poke fun at him to be honest. ;)

But having scratched that itch for the time being, I shall now refrain.

Wellll... you can't quite blame the Phase II crew for slavish attention to detail--those jumpsuits are authentic Phase II designs. Doesn't make 'em any less cringe-inducing :)

btw, one other kudo I wanted to give--the visual F/X in this episode are nothing short of phenomenal. The visuals of the Lear/Iago star system are wonderfully done, and the Enterprise herself has never looked better, battle damage notwithstanding. :techman:

Well, I gotta say this played better on my second viewing. I liked the flow better this time around. I thing the scenes aboard the other starship are really well done-for me the best part of the show. The cliffhanger was also well done-they really created the feeling that the characters are in genuine danger.

I just wish these CG artists would dare to portray stars as what they are: very bright light sources. It would be cool to see the dark silhouette of a starship against the blinding light of a nearby sun... like some of the shots in Sunshine.

We get a bit of that in Abrams' "Star Trek," apparently.

This was an excellent episode.

I’ve seen the rough cut of part II of this show - it’s just as good if not better. “World Enough And Time” remains my favorite STNV show so far, but that’s a matter of personal preference - the whole production continues to improve from show to show. :)

TrekMovie BBS didn't give a good review..

Really? Did we read the same review?

From TrekMovie:

"All in all 'Blood and Fire' is another good [emphasis mine] entry from the Phase II team. The episode did start off with a bang and provided a few highlights on the way, but the rest of the episode didn't deliver as well as the opening teaser. Although there are improvements from previous episodes, I would still rank this one as second behind last year's 'World Enough and Time,' guest-starring George Takei. Regardless, I am very much looking forward to Part 2 to see how this all plays out."

This last paragraph from the review is a pretty good encapsulation of the entire review. So I think saying that "TrekMovie didn't give it a good review" might be a bit wide of the mark.

Or perhaps we simply misunderstood you and by "not a good review," you mean that the review itself was poorly written or not insightful or not informative or reliable.

Don't pay any attention to Mr. Rollins a.k.a. "Lightinspire".
He is just a bigot who trolls EVERY Trek bullentin board trying to get everyone worked up about this episode.

Please don't resort to name-calling jamesmc, I think everyone here has a pretty good grasp of what Lightinspire's motivation is for the posts he's made and have been doing an admirable job of properly ignoring those posts.

Well I for one simply cannot wait to see those men kissing. And can there be some girl-girl kissing as well? Please?
Fun for everyone!!
I kept waiting for the love interest soft focus shot on Peter Kirk, and the swelling (pun intended) love theme. What'd I get? An eyesore jumpsuit.

I was kind of reminded of the Mario Bros. outfits. Now there's some slash fiction that has yet to be explored.

Edit: I'm surprised no one mentioned the Phil Koeghen cameo. I only recognized him about five seconds before he signed off.

From Trek Today BBS..read the last sentence..
TrekMovie.com reports that Star Trek: Phase II has released a new episode, Blood and Fire, Part 1. TrekMovie reviewed the episode, and they found that "'Blood and Fire' is another good entry from the Phase II team. The episode did start off with a bang and provided a few highlights on the way, but the rest of the episode didn't deliver as well as the opening teaser."

Doesn't sound like a good one to me, says only the teaser was the best part..apparently you only read what you want and close your eyes to the other parts.
