If the OP got his way would he then begin a petition if the series wasn't in the timeframe they wanted after DS9? What if it was set between DS9 and VOY would that be a problem? 15 years after Nemesis? In the 26th Century?
Judge the frelling show on the merits of what they do, not what you wanted! In January, after watching it, and you think it's a pile of dross, then start gathering support for another timeframe, etc, you might actually get some support for it.

What was the point of him spending much more time in make up than on the set then? Cgi and make up are not substitutes, they are necessary complements. Without them Quark would look like a short guy and Star trek like a documentary about people with bizarre idiosyncrasies, staring at nothing and talking to thin air.
How about a blank petition (similar to a blank check), I mean you sign first then learn what you signed for?
I am sorry but this is lame. I wish they did not do a prequel, but there are many things about the show that sound great.
That said, I think it is a good idea to have some formal expression of dissatisfaction. We are the fan base and without us Trek will not succeed. They need to understand that many (most?) of us want a continuation of the universe, not a prequel.
I am worried now that DIS will be a success and we will get more shows in that era which is pretty much the same fear of having the prime universe die after the reboot movies. If you don't continue the prime universe then it is dead.

Speak for yourself, not "many(most?) of us". You don't represent the fanbase. You don't know what the majority of the fanbase wants. I want a good, successful show more than one set in any specific time period. Your fear that Discovery will be a success and the franchise will thrive and grow is asinine.

I doubt that if you were to (miraculously) get that many that CBS would halt a venture that will have already cost them quite a bit, for something as petty as the timeframe it's set in. What if they choose an actress you don't like to lead it? Or they have a Deltan onboard when you really wanted an Orion?

The horrror of discovering why a Deltan celibacy oath is necessary is a story that might fit into this time frame. The novel of the movie claimed that Humans can't handle being dumped by a Deltan, which probably means that they have addictive drugs in their random secretions.
Well, the Deltans are supposed to be hypersexual. Maybe we would get the chance to learn what that means...
