"Pete Malloy you are End Of Watch" RIP

I just want that say that the guy who started this thread Chardman has passed away. There is a link at TNZ to give your condolences. I never conversed with Chardman but his passing seems to have affected quite a few people. I would like to say farewell to a Adam-12 fan. Rest in Peace Chardman. End of Watch.

NP. I've only caught a smattering of episodes myself, but it's definitely a quality show.

Would that be the one that introduced Glenn Corbett as Lincoln, Buz's replacement? Very ahead of its time, doing the Vietnam vet trying to adjust to society after coming back home.

Yes I believe it was Glenn Corbetts first. I was amazed at how sophisticated it was. Right up there with todays drama. Better actually. I hope they play that one again. I would like to see the beginning.

They won't be getting that far into the series next weekend. They'll be getting partway through Season 2; Corbett's first episode was in the latter half of Season 3.

Looks like the Shat did a Season 4 episode!

Thanks for the heads up.

Amazing how sophisticated those primitives could be, huh? :rommie:

Yesterday I saw an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents that was written by Stirling Siliphant and featured Shatner (no top billing-- this predated TZ and OL, let alone ST). It also had Jessica Tandy and Billy Barty. "The Glass Eye." Excellent episode.

I was just watching a ep of Adam-12 today and was thinking how weird it is now that Milner(Malloy) is gone. I watched the entire series after not seeing it for years. I watched a few episodes in 2009 and then started watchin the seasons in 2011 and 12 and then finished the buck of the series about 8 or 9 months ago just before Milner passed away. I always thought while watching that it was great the best officers on the beat in LA were still kicking. Its kind of sad watching now. :(

So long as one child watching TV in the late 60s / early 70s grew up to become a police officer...and hasn't wound up on somebody's cell phone video on CNN....

Seriously. The world could use some role models like those guys about now.

Agreed. Reed and Malloy were excellent role models for kids in the late 60s and early 70s and still are today for anyone watching reruns. They were both good office, professional and really cared about their jobs.

I was just checking out the network TV schedules out of curiosity....It looks like Route 66 had some serious competition in its timeslot for most of its run--The Flintstones!

ETA: Came across a bit of a continuity issue between a couple of episodes. In one early episode, Buz indicates that he was treated well in the home where he grew up. In a later episode, he temporarily splits with Tod because Todd insists on taking a child hitchhiker back to the orphanage that he was running away from, and evidently Buz had more issues with his childhood at such an institution than he was letting on previously.

Generally the continuity is surprisingly good for a semi-anthology, though. One Season 1 episode referenced several of their previous experiences; and another referenced where they were going to be in the following episode.

I was excited about the Route66 show and it was on as you said Mixer. I wasn't able to watch them as they were being broadcast but I set my DVR to record the entire first season that decades ran yesterday. When I got home nothing recorded. I even made sure the red record dot on the menu was on. I have no idea what happened. I was pretty peeved. I guess I will have to wait until they o another one. I sure hope they do.:(

Agree with you, Pubert and others about Reed and Malloy. Wonder if they will ever do a reboot. Be nice to have a "good" show on to counter the edginess that is out there now. I am old enough to have watched Adam-12 as it aired, and have fond memories. You will find Route 66 a delight, and deliciously retro. Man, that goes wayyyyyy back. Route 66, the highway, was an integral part of my youth and formative years. It went right through my hometown in the Chicago suburbs, and parts of it are still in use as side roads and frontage roads, I want to go on the driving tour they have for it. Look it up, all kinds of Americana associated with it!

I saw half a episode of Route 66 so far. It was a Vietnam themed story. Pretty excellent. I have known of the show for a long time but they are not rerun often.

I watched Adam-12 in reruns when I was 5-10 but recently watched the entire series on Hulu and then Netflix. IT took me back to the good old days in my old home town and living with my parents. I am glad I was able to watch the entire series a few months before Milner died. I liked watching it knowing both actors were still around. All the old Mark-VII shows are great. I watched Emergency as a kid also. Great show.

I still remember the red cherry sirens blaring and and lights flashing with the theme music in "Emergency"! Totally forgot that Jack Webb produced it. Did remember Nelson Riddle did the music! More good stuff!

Yesterday I saw another Alfred Hitchcock Presents written by Stirling Siliphant. This one was actually directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

I wonder if Milner inspired anyone to be a drifter with a shiny new Corvette....
The drifter part, undoubtedly. :rommie:

I'm sure they will, but they'll likely pick up where this one left off (partway into Season 2), rather than start at the beginning, FWIW.

Just caught the end of this week's last episode a bit ago...guest-starring young Martin Sheen as a street gang leader!

As for an Adam-12 remake...not a bad idea if it were done straight, but do patrol car cops still work in pairs anywhere?

Gaza...maybe Beruit...probably Amman, now...tough to film, but all locations with their own stunts and special effects.

Gotta love how Martin, Charlie and Emilio all looked so much like each other at different times in their lives.

I think an updated Adam-12 would actually play quite well. And just might give some ideas for role models other than Pimps, Prosties, Drug Lords and Junkies!
