Personal Style

Fantastic, you see you had style even then!

You should have seen me in my spring white suit I wore to a family party when I was seven... White pants, white shirt, white jacket, white shoes, bright sun beam yellow tie... I wish I had a photo of me in that get up, I looked mint, even for a seven year old. ;)

My mother never spared the expense or style for my "dress cloths" when I was growing up.

Please finish it, just so you can leave it at a party one night and knock on the door ten minutes later and announce 'excuse me I seem to have left my cane':guffaw:
Heck, I made the thing because I was annoyed I couldn't find one which was long enough for me to use properly. I used to look at the gentleman canes that the tobacconist carried in his shop at the mall (man I wish he was still there). Being 6'4" tall they were always a half a foot too short to allow my arm to "lay properly" for the look. So when it came up to the "end of the year fun project" for wood shop, the first thing on my list was to make a cane on the lathe. It's a bit heavy duty, and thicker than a normal cane, but as my shop teacher commented, it fit my proportions.

Just need to do the finishing work...

Oh, and I don't need an excuse to forget things. I'm always forgetting my current hat everywhere when I take it off. I've taken to putting my car keys in it when ever I take it off at work just so I can't leave without it.

Oh, current hat of choice is a black marine 8-point cover, an odd choice but one which seems to attract plenty of attention.

Having just consulted the lazy persons shopping God - Ebay, I am horrified to find walking canes also referred to as 'pimp sticks'.

Indeed, thus my brothers christening my personal style "pimpesque"

Given your description of your white suit I'm thinking more 'Huggy Bear' than 'Fred Astaire'.

Na, at that point in time I was no where near "pimping"

Interesting about the height thing though, maybe there would be a market for bespoke canes for the more loftier gentleman:)

If I had the money, I'd get one of these done up custom. http://www.swordcane.com/burger_swords_home.htm

And please don't make me have to look up what "a black marine 8-point cover" is!

It's the one on the upper right.

^Wow those swordcanes are cool. But probably a tad illegal?
Have to say I prefer them to the hat though:)
As for the 'pimpesque', where is the line drawn between wearing a hat, sporting a cane and a sharp suit that defines either Sherlock Holmes or Huggy Bear?:) Aha, maybe it's all in the way one carries oneself?

Depends on where you live.

Ah, don't be hating the hat. It's my "working hat". At least till I get a proper "adventure fedora". ;)

It isn't the clothes or accessories which make the man. They just make the man look good. ;)

Indeed it is... Holmes and other "positive" sides of the "pimpesque" coin are gentleman rouges, Independent Scholars, Free thinkers, with an air of confidence and just enough ego so as to elevate them above, but not rub it in... Well, maybe a little every once in a while. They never quite fit in with the rest of the populace for one reason or another. They also walk the line of twilight between good and evil but never so far as to lose sight of the light.

The "negative" sides of the coin are the Close minded, the evil, all ego, who bask in the depths of the inky black darkness from which there is no escape... The Moriarty to the positives Holmes.

At least that's the way I termed it when I get poetical.

All depends which one you WANT to look like. :D

(I veer between Huggy & Holmes on a regular basis...)

A monocle has a certain Teutonic flair.
Indeed. Very "Colonel Klink." :bolian:

 Exactly.

I wouldn't mind a set of glasses which stay on the face by the bridge holding tension, like the sunglasses worn by morpheus in the matrix...

If you do end up looking for some and want to search online, that style of glasses are called "pince-nez" (for self-evident reasons).

I s'pose the only thing they have in common is the Cool vibe. Damn why is there no female equivalent? Not the Boho stuff, something with a bit more class but on a daily wearable basis? At the moment I am favouring black polo neck, black trousers, heels, wrap worn as scarf and long black wool coat and red lipstick. oh and a cigarette case.

Or Herr Flick in 'Allo Allo'

There are some on Ebay at the moment... Difficult to get the lenses right for you, but a very kooky look:cool:
