People currently alive who would get ships named after them in Trek...

Re: People currently alive who would get ships named after them in Tre

I'd say that scientists would be much more likely to be eligible than current politicians, with Stephen Hawking being the most obvious candidate.

How about President Obama, or King Abdullah of Jordan? They'd love that, since they're both huge Trekkies anyway. :D

Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Obama, are you kidding. He can lock people up without trial indefinetly, besides Goldman's dildo is so far up his backside he is bleeding from the inside. How strong is the the jordanian human rights record?

Look, a lame attempt to turn the innocuous into a rabid political thread.

The USS Timothy Leary would be my choice for exploration.

Don't use language like this in here. This isn't TNZ.

I wouldn't be surprise if someone somewhere named something after Tenzin Gyatso, the current Dalai Lama. Apparently he has a vigorous interest in science, and he's well-loved across the world...just not in China. Of course, a Tibetan spiritual leader's name would be entirely out of place on a military vessel. Perhaps, though, if Starfleet had a vessel committed purely to peaceful matters like diplomacy, his legacy might be appropriate.

Oh, sure! Either a ship, or perhaps an orbital telescope/observatory/space station. I for one was thrilled that Christopher Bennett named a ship Asimov in his first DTI book, although the maestro died in 1992.

Michio Kaku would probably love it.

The U.S.S. Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have quite a ring to them....
