Patrick Stewart Wants To Become A U.S. Citizen To Fight Trump

No, you really don't speak for everyone else. Many Trump supporters like Sci-fi too.

My town in West Virginia suffered terribly under Bill Clinton. George Bush didn't do anything for us, but nor did he harm us. My area was in the great depression twice as long as the rest of the US. We had steel in the north, coal in the south. That was our economy.

Under Obama, he tried to destroy what was left. Many parts of West Virginia, such as McDowell County, now has the same life expectancy as the worst hit parts of the Soviet Union. People can't even afford functional sewage systems, piped right out into streams. Same substance abuse as in the third world, due to hopelessness. Its rare for me to find a family untouched by the heroine epidemic. In Iraq, we lost a few thousand, that's nothing compared to the genocide experienced here.

Had Hillary won, my state would of absolutely collapsed. We be legally qualified as frontier in terms of population. US Flag would of had 49 flags, likely even less. That's the future we were facing.

And why? What did we do to deserve this? We voted Democrats like a bunch of damn fools for decades, became a reliable blue state from Kennedy on. Deep labor. What did we get in return? NAFTA, mass unemployment, mill after mill closing. Suicides, drug deaths, only escape joining the army or fleeing to another part of the country.

Know what happened once people snapped out of it, stopped voting Democrat? Democratic party started calling us racist suddenly. Reason our economy couldn't compete according to the New York Times was because we didn't take in illegal immigrants. Never occurred to the NYT the reason nobody immigrates here is because there is no jobs, even under the table.

That's just not my state, its a big chunk of the US the Democrats backstabbed hard. I've traveled the country, lived in San Francisco and Hawaii. You know "Starfleet Academy" in the Presidio in San Francisco? Eucyluptus woods, full of homeless. Some liberal drug users, others just economic refugees. How about Captain Jean Luc Picard go into the damn woods at night behind the old Japanese Language School buildings behind Crissy Field and tell the homeless huddled there he us fighting against Trump? They will point out they are from Louisiana or Oklahoma, came looking for work. They don't care for liberal grandstanding or faux politics, save the whales, save the hermaphrodites, save the Jihadis. They just want work. Prefer not having another terrorist attack too.

For many years, people would come look at the giant rotting mill, once the largest and most eco friendly on the planet, and make promises on starting new businesses, and nothing ever happened.

As soon as Trump gets elected, a company openly commits. They are tearing it down, building new buildings. New businesses. We haven't seen this sort of activity in years. I'm hearing of coalmines opening back up. Closed business are being reappraised.

We've gotten absolutely nothing out of the last three presidents prior to Trump, now one is paying attention to us. Every democrat has hurt us bad. Is it because we weren't leftist enough? We were always the most leftist. We went from most polluted city according to time magazine to ckeanest, one of the best places to live. We had the largest employee owned company in the nation. We had near universal health access due to Patch Adams free clinic network, free gyms. We fought in the civil war for the union, within our own state, community by community....

But in the end, we were a bunch of ignorant racist stupid hicks, only worthy of contempt and death.

No more. You remember in DS9 those uprisings in the ghetto of 21st century earth? That's Trump, that's why we voted for him. Were tired of being second class citizens in our own country.

Patrick Stewart is free to fight the president. That hardly qualifies him as a american though. We have a fairly open system, anyone can. If you become a American, it should be for love of our country and our ideals, not just so you can kill my neighbors by putting the tyrants back in power, who systematically destroyed my community, large swaths of my country. Bill Clinton's subprime mortgadges resulted in massive numbers of homeless, many still are.

You gotta think before you do stupid stuff. We have a House of Representatives. Its elected by population, most representative part of our government. It overwhelmingly rejects Democrats for a reason. Too many of us have suffered. Very few people from blue states or overseas travel around the country to see the heartbreak and suffering. We've had enough. No more starting fake racewars just to get a few more democratic votes- people die from those, causes needless racial division. No more attacking American businesses. We need our jobs. Stop encouraging terrorists, stop picking wars with Russia.

Trumps tends to isolationalism and business policies. Trumps children are minorities, Jews. Trump lived in New York, during 9/11- it hit him hard. He wasn't acting in a movie when he looked up in the sky on 9/11 like certain science fiction actors have to pretend, he had real emotions. He had real concerns, most of us do.

Its over. We are not going back to the old ways.

No, a war will NOT be started just because the Democrats need one to save their party.

No, we are NOT going back to mass unemployment, onlyngains in minimum wage part time jobs. I never want to see idiots screaming against the economy has been improving for years while the streets are full of homeless and small towns have several drug users a week die in ER because they gave up because their lives are ruined.

What are you going to fight against Picard? Are you afraid Trump is gonna post military troops inside bathrooms to keep transexuals out? Are you afraid every Mexican who broke in illegally is going to be deported to the point that all the Liberals in San Francisco, Chicago, New York will have to go out and pick their own berries?

Absurd! You listen to too much extremist propaganda.

End result is Wall equals less drugs killing people and destroying lives on US side of border, withering microstate drug cartels on Mexican side no longer destroying Mexico. Its a ethical win win, stabalizes two countries, saves countless lives. We have a Wall, UK has a wall in France, EU in enclaves in Morocco and on the Greek border, among many other places.

The world is well past whatever delusion the old left has been cooking up for decades. I'm about to start ripping lines from Star Trek Insurrection out in support of Trump.

I don't like political parties period. I support John Adams Machiavellianism and distrust of political movements. I've grown to absolutely abhor the Democrats though. Far too much damage, too many lives lost, too many destroyed. I'll be damned if I see them kill any more. Where were you at when Hillary was campaigning to destroy my state? We needed you then.

picard-queenskull.jpg

Your free to become a American, but I hope you do it only because you find something worthwhile in my people, a love of my country, and not seek to enslave us once more to the most destructive and decisive political machine in our countries history, one that destroyed countless lives, one that manipulated and mocked us the entire time, telling us we are the ones to blame, that it wasn't even that bad, that things actually are good. Try doing that with cops constantly raiding methlabs, or layoffs keep coming, or finding yourself sleeping in the rain and cold. What the solution? Give even greater reign to the Democrats? More of the same? What kind of idiots do you take us for? Travel around the US outside your privledged actors bubble you stick to. Most of us are fed up with it.

Your insane if you think even half your fanbase here voted Democrat. Look at the House of Representatives, they are the better representative of our countries outlook. All your sales, movies made here, the big market here- they think your a great actor, but do not begin to agree with what your doing. We are trying to end a terrible, terrible nightmare. That's why Trump is President. We had enough! Shall I write it in Iambic Pentameter so you'll better understand it? We want reprieve, we want our humanity back, we want a future, we want equal status in our own lands, not to be derided and mocked at like some serf. How did America become outcast in our own country? Only through a rotten ideology. I get it, your Hollywood friends hold it, the Queen with her stupid little public waving opposes it. Well, guess what Picard, this is America, we don't do what are self appointed aristocrats want us to do, much less the Queens bidding. Thought people would of figured that out by now. No means NO!

I like Sam Brownback.

He was a friend to Robert Zubrin on a panel when very few were:

Yet his Reaganomics approach didn't do squat for Kansas
https://www.bloomberg.com/view/arti...x-cuts-its-neighbor-didn-t-guess-which-worked
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/...ter-zorn-perspec-0518-jm-20160517-column.html

In many ways--a vote for Trump is a tacit admission that Reaganomics doesn't work.

Now--my politics gets me in trouble with both sides. I'm pro-animal research--and pro-choice (Castle doctrine really). I don't toe any line.

Reagan signed a blanket amnesty for he wanted to use demographics as a weapon. I remember some Viva Reagan signs--and some on the Left praised him for the action. But living wage dry-walling jobs vanished as a result--so he did what he did to push wages down. Remember--he and other Republicans of a certain stripe hated Gov't.

But a strong NLRB is worth 20 Trumps--and we should have had laws enacted to keep jobs from moving overseas.

For years, the business lobby invested in talk radio--but the populist zeal has--in the body of tea-party Trump members--backfired against the GOP to the point that Jeb-bluebloods are taking a back seat.

Now the Left wants to talk about identity politics--and that isn't helping either. The Trump derangement syndrome is real.

But understand this--Trump's anti-free trade stance was what Democrats used to be known for--before they went with NAFTA and TPP with Clinton and Obama.

In reality--Occupy Wall Street and the Tea Party are on the same side on this one. But we are all being played.

My guess is that some find that letting the 1% have free-trade will redistribute wealth away from the USA faster than any tax, regulation, or treaty.

When Trump mandated that American Steel be used for pipelines--some in the background all but winced. They figure that under Clinton--they may have more taxes and regulations--but would be allowed to off-shore--so they'd still make more under her of all things. She is more hawkish in some ways. I think some neo-Cons actually liked her and McCain better.

Still, Trump may yet disappoint you. While businessmen looked like they had their dog shot at one signing--the insurance executives were smiling when they sat down with Trump. Before it was ACA--it came from the Heritage Institute--a conservative think tank that wanted to force the individual mandate--so the sick-for-profit insurance companies could still be profitable despite an aging populace.

Did you ever wonder why Tim Pawlenty never said much about "Obamneycare" after the fact?
http://www.npr.org/sections/itsallpolitics/2011/06/14/137170812/tim-pawlenty-misses-his-big-moment

I think someone got to him.

It should be single payer--or leave it alone.

But I don't see any in the GOP in a hurry to get rid of the individual mandate--this tax penalty that forces poor folks to pay money--when they don't have funds for private insurance to begin with. I think this is a potential slush fund neither party wants to part with.

Obama should have pushed for higher wages when he had an all-DNC power base. But he didn't.

The folks in DC don't care about us. Trump did contractors dirty. He's a union buster at heart. Picket lines and borders are the same thing. But free-trader globalists don't want strong picket-lines, strong borders, wage-an-hour laws--nothing.

So don't fall for it.

First, don't you get it. Coal is cancer to humanity. It's something WV needs to let go of...

Secondly, Trump doesn't give a damn about those towns in WV. He's rich thanks to the system that made the coal industry to go into decline LONG before the last three democratic presidents. Why would Trump change this?? He's not threatening those companies with the 35% tax (which the congress won't allow) out of his goodness heart. It's a business ploy.

..don't you dare put this on the last three democratic presidents (Obama, Clinton and Carter). Coal Industry has been in decline for a long time...since before Carter was president. Don't you get it? Hillary wasn't out to destroy West Virginia and the ordinary citizens of the Mountain state. She was out to destroy the industry that your state unfortunately clings to, and for a good reason. The trouble is that there is an oligarchy that refuses to end the coal industry's grip on your state.

You want your state to thrive? Don't wait for Trump...or anyone else. Only you WVians can start attracting new industries and all that. I've read about few individuals that is doing this somewhere in Appalachia. Why don't you? Don't blame the democrats for the decline of so many towns in WV. The world is changing, and sometimes some areas are left behind unfortunately. Drive anywhere and you'd come across a town or two that was once thriving and booming over a century ago, before things including certain industries became obsolete and/or irrelevant.

My hometown once had HUGE factories where they made whips and those old bicycles you see in Victorian-era paintings. As horses are mostly pets these days and the whips sales plummeted a long time ago, and we use different types of bicycles, those factories went away. My hometown adapted to the times.

Thirdly...John Adams would have been a Democrat today. There's no way he would have gone along with Trump. The founding fathers hated populists. Jefferson would have aligned himself closer to Gary Johnson.

You have to have heavy industry--it provides core jobs.

A lot of folks can't adapt because the iron law of buiness is that I make more money if I pay you less--so you have to have an NLRB. Now, automation has hurt. Longshoreman and stevdores were hurt by the container ships--and coal uses less workers (we used to get fossils from true underground mines)

But what we have now are service jobs that take money out of a community--pawn shops where granny has to all but give her late husbands accumulated wealth away. lLquor stores, payday loan stores--fast food. These aren't jobs we need.

One can be a populist and a democrat. Hell, even some Cato Institute libertarians--who don't understand infrastructure any more than Greens do--had a discussion on Universal Basic Income

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basic_income
https://www.c-span.org/video/?416384-1/cato-institute-hosts-discussion-universal-basic-income

If we do become a Post-scarcity world--but do so through more and more automation--a UBI may be the only way some can live.

When talk radio listening truck drivers find themselves out of work--

http://blogs.wsj.com/cio/2017/03/03...ing-trucks-poised-to-remake-freight-industry/

--they will become democrats real fast.

Are you saying folks who barely finished high school are automatically incapable of wisdom or sound reasoning? You realize lot of those folks have lot of education and experience through meeting folks and doing lot of shit most of us never do.? It's not like they sit around in one of the sound stages between tapings during their entire existence.

So tired of "Actors" most of whom barely finished High School telling us what to do with our lives.
Patrick Stewart isn't telling anyone what to do with their lives. Nowhere in the article does it say that. All it says is what he wants to do. If that's what he wants, great. More power to him. Why anyone else should give a crap about it is beyond me.

"Mister Stewart, why do you want to be an American?"
"It's Sir Patrick, if you don't mind, and I want to become an American in order to protest the American President."
"NEXT!"

***cough*** Ronald Reagan ***cough***
Hell, Ronald Reagan, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Fred Gandy, Sonny Bono, Clint Eastwood, Charlton Heston, Fred Thompson, Ben Stein (though Thompson and Stein worked in politics before acting, and also during and after in Thompson's case), Shirley Temple Black, John Gavin, John Lodge, George Murphy, Alan Autry (AKA Carlos Brown), etc. And that's just the ones who were famous for acting, not counting celebrity athletes who ran for office or were heavily involved in political lobbying.

Actors getting involved in politics are just fine with Republicans, as long as it's actors who conform to their worldview.

I seriously doubt that this is really his main reason for becoming a citizen, just the final impetus to finally do something that he's probably been thinking about for a long time. He's lived and worked here for years.

Less seriously, I love love love the images in my head of Picard coming to our rescue.
