There's DoctorBeverly, and occasionally we see ActionBev...and then there's OutragedBev...

I thoroughly enjoy the occasional appearance of Action Picard, the quintessential alpha male.
I'm so intrigued by this discussion. It's obvious that when we look at Picard, we are basically seeing two different characters, and yet both viewings can obviously be supported by the source text. Such is fandom, I suppose...

Cool! Speaking of fanfic, I really should be working on my next P/V story.
You should...![]()

Does Beverly lend herself to such multiple interpretations?

Since I enjoy writing "bodice-ripper" style stories using the Picard/Vash pairing, my stories do focus more on 'Action Picard' because that is the facet that the Vash character draws out.![]()

I know, I know, I'm stalling. The next P/V story in the pipeline is going to be plot intensive, unlike "The Temptation of Jean-Luc Picard." Even I don't consider Vash showing up in the guise of an Orion slave woman to surprise Jean-Luc an actual plot point and I wrote it.

I promised my kids I'd take them for ice cream this afternoon. After that, I'm planning to sit down and work on the plot outline for the next P/V story.

But it's also the "BrainyPicard" that Vash is attracted to as well, correct?

That sounds like an interesting part of the story...and conjures up all sorts of scenarios, most of them involving leather and incense.

I would never consider writing any such thing!![]()

Very good summary there.Whoa Nellie said:With Picard, TNG canon has given us a rich, multi-faceted character to play with; one who reads ancient Greek and Latin classics and Shakespeare as well as hard-boiled detective novels. He plays the flute as well as rides horses, fences, and does a little rock climbing. He drinks tea as well as Aldebaran whiskey. He is a diplomat who appears to have a certain degree of special ops training.
And since I tend to be interested in more intellectual characters, that is the side of Picard that I prefer to focus on. There are so many men in movies and television shows who are typical action heroes, but how many heroes love reading Shakespeare and Latin, and make it look cool? It's a shame to waste that side of Picard.Since I enjoy writing "bodice-ripper" style stories using the Picard/Vash pairing, my stories do focus more on 'Action Picard' because that is the facet that the Vash character draws out.![]()

Vash surprising Jean-Luc as an Orion slave woman was the plot (if you want to call it that but I consider the word plot to be a bit of a stretch) of my most recent P/V story "The Temptation of Jean-Luc Picard." It was only posted to ASC and my P/V website because if I had tried to edit it down for Fanfiction.net or TrekBBS only about three words would have been left.![]()
I'll admit it was a heck of a lot of fun to write!

Plot works...kinda. Maybe "Vash surprising Jean-Luc as an Orion woman was the push of the story"...

Hmmm...I have a question. In the installment of the fanfic I'm working on, I left off with Picard and the crew of the Stargazer having just been cut off communications-wise by a Cardassian vessel. Should I write out the battle scene, or skip to the part where Picard sends Jack Crusher off to help the ship, and, essentially, his death?
Admiral Valeris said:
^Thanks!
It does, actually. The only reason the battle is here is so that the Stargazer gets damaged and Picard has to send out some crew to either fix or detach a warp nacelle...apart from that, it's not overly pertinent.
Depends whether you care about it or not. Basically the only scenes in fiction that I have trouble writing are the ones that I don't care about... or in some cases it's the ones about which I care too much, but that's another story!Admiral Valeris said:

But yeah, that's different than being interested or excited about the scene itself. I find that the lack of commitment shows in my writing if I try to force something that I'm not passionate about.Admiral Valeris said:

Speaking of which, I'm *really* looking forward to the next installment in your fanfic. Bring it on!
Poor Bev, just waiting at home for Jack and Jean-Luc to get back, pining away...Admiral Valeris said:
I'm trying. I shocked myself with the lack of Beverly so far.
