Over it

The lack of television shows I want to escape into is a problem of the quality of the shows themselves, not my psychology.
There are so many high quality television shows, more than ever before, so if you really can't find something that interests you, it's a bit concerning. Happy to make suggestions! What are you into?

I never said that I couldn't find anything to watch, just that if there wasn't anything it would be as much a matter of the quality of television in general as a matter of my outlook on life. I can relate to the OP because a lot of current TV sucks and just giving up on it is a perfectly valid response.

Was reading something recently about the consumer being unhappy if there are too many or too few choices. This could be an interpretation of that feeling.

Personally I came of age in the early 80s. Back then I felt there was a finite amount of TV and film. You could catch up on most everything. These days I find myself realizing that I am not going to be able to watch all TV shows and movies I'm interested in moving forward. It's a simple formula of the waking hours I have left coupled with the increasing amount of material to ingest. I'm going to have to choose what to watch and you all will, too.

TL;DR, quantity is a huge factor, regardless of quality - we're looking at a landscape of nearly infinite choices for entertainment today. This might factor into the satisfaction aspect of it.

Depends what it is. If it's an E! or Bravo show, no. But I like the stuff on BBC, Channel 4, Netflix and Amazon. Race Across The World is my favourite thing on TV at the moment.

I've barely looked at any of the U.S. TV stuff, and it all looked like Xeroxed™ crap-o-la. I guess if you consider the old Orange County Choppers reality, I did watch that. But how much of even that show was BS?

I doubt anyone else feels the same way I do, but lately I've found myself just tired of tv and movies.

I largely feel that way. Too many celebrities are sleazy or otherwise hypocritical and even those who aren't too often say yes to mediocre-or-worse scripts, too much of movies & TV is either rehash or shock-value iconoclasm, too many shows take too many bad turns.

I think "The Walking Dead" may be a good example of something that started out as pretty good TV and the...not so much.

I lost interest several seasons back and find it hard to imagine that it's still on in some form. Seems completely repetitive and pointless now.

Not so much tired because I still love new stuff but I am kind of bored with stories exploring modern stuff like Trumpism and modern day society. Which is ironic because I think art is suppose to be about exploring important issues, it's just that one of the side effects of so much tv and new movies exploring these themes at the same time I have begun feeling the effects of over saturation. Now a show has to be especially good and if political make a argument or explore a angle that feels fresh for me to make me not just dismiss it as being repetitive of everything else being made right now because it's all starting to get a sameness feel to it. Also I think I just don't like a lot of things about modern Society like Trump for example. I can't stand listening to him. I get bored of people talking about him and now movies exploring issues about him. I wish Trump would just disappear off the planet and nobody ever said another thing ever again about him because everything about him has become tiresome.

I didn't like season 1 and stopped after it, I thought it was a good example of something that was very pretentious and driven by shock value.
