OT: Announcing ONLY SUPERHUMAN, my first original novel!

^Sorry, I don't know that. Greg, any ideas?

Oh Lord, I'm confess I'm clueless where ebooks are concerned. I have no idea.

Sorry not to be more helpful, but I'm just a freelance editor. I don't know anything about Tor's ebook policies.

No problem, I was just being lazy and looking for a shortcut ;). I'll look into it myself, and then report back once I find what I'm looking for (DRM free + supporting PayPal would be ideal).

OK, it turns out that Kobo, where I purchased some Vanguard installments in the past already via PayPal with no problems, is selling the DRM-free epub version of Only Superhuman for 12,72€ and I went ahead and grabbed that. For fun:

Congrats on your professional accomplishment, Christopher! Now let's hope I like the novel :).

(Mini-edit: Replaced the screenshot, the original had a glitch from hasty snapping.)

And just in case anyone is that curious about this game change as I am, here's the blurb that TOR/Macmillan have chosen to go with on their DRM free book:

The author and publisher have provided this e-book to you without Digital Rights Management software (DRM) applied so that you can enjoy reading it on your personal devices. This e-book is for your personal use only. You may not print or post this e-book, or make this e-book publicly available in any way. That's inserted between the title page and the dedication page.

Downloaded! (And my doctor just put me on 24 hour vocal rest. I get to stay home tomorrow and read. How fortuitous is THAT?)

It's probably going to be quite a while before I get to this, but I am certainly looking forward to this when I get around to it. I'm very interested to see what the people here who read it think of it.

It arrived today, amazon.ca shipped it yesterday and I always get their packages overnight from Toronto.

A most excellent book, I'm halfway through. It has everything I wanted in a sci-fi book. In fact, it was just the book I was looking for personally at this time.

I never realized just how much Star Trek books keep to a certain "rating" in the movie theatre sense until I read Only Superhuman.

^ Are you indicating violence or sex or both with that last sentence?

I'm not much for violence... ;)

But yes, my original work, at least in my default universe, does tend to feature more sexual content and language than my Trek work.

Good point actually, I should have recalled e.g. the boxing discussion not so long ago :). It's terribly late over here ...

Edit: Just found this chuckle-worthy description in a Goodreads review: "There's also a fair amount of sex and nudity in the book. None of it overtly graphic in its description, but what it may lack in description, it makes up for in quantity."

So, Mr. Bennett, how does it feel to be a published author in your own right, with a hardcover original work to your name?

^Ask me again when we see how well it sells... ;)

It is certainly more fulfilling to have a published novel that's purely mine, especially one I've been working on for more than half my life. And it's awesome to have a hardcover.

I did my bit. ;)

Just finished it. Seems to belong on the same shelf with The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, which I read in high school.

To Mr. Cox:

May we please have more from this author? :)
