I still like where the Felix story is going, but that can't be his biological sister. If it is, I hope the writers have a good explanation for it because it seemed a little easy to find her. Of course Felix has been off screen quite a bit in the early going and he's been trying to find his family for 2 months now so maybe it isn't out of the realm of possibility that that is his actual sister.
They did resemble each other. And she said she'd submitted a genetic sample to some online relative search, so I suppose Felix did the same. Anyway, I hope his birth family is just his birth family and not some Neolutionist plot or something. It gets contrived when every character is linked to the Vast Conspiracy.
The suggestion that Kira has precognition has been going for some time. She already knew things that she couldn't have known in the past, with this seemingly being the only explanation.
Countless charlatans have depended on people believing that supernatural powers were "the only explanation" for things that could be done with clever deduction, observation, and psychological manipulation. Kira could just be extremely intelligent and observant, good at deducing things from evidence most people don't notice, and it would seem paranormal to others. That would fit in with the scientific realism the show has stuck with so far. Bringing in precognition would destroy OB as a hard-SF show forever, and that would be tragic, since there are so very few of those.
Not to mention that Helena, who happens to be special like Sarah and Kira and pregnant with two, was able to tell the cops things she supposedly didn't know.
As Alison said to Donnie, Helena's a trained assassin. It's her job to observe details. She's been living with the Hendrixes for the past couple of months and would've had plenty of opportunities to pick up this information. Donnie was just surprised because her normal personality leads people to assume she's a flake who's out of touch with reality. This wasn't a suggestion that Helena has oogy-boogy psychic powers, just that people underestimate the sharpness of her mind.
It's becoming more than suggestion at this point, and comes at the same time when a mind-control bug is introduced.
At this point, we only have one person's uncorroborated guess that "proximity to the brain" has some significance to the implant's purpose. It's a pretty huge leap from there to "mind control."
Though it may work well for Kira's character, I must admit.
I think it would ruin Kira's character, because it would reduce this smart, charming kid to a cliched stock character type dragged off one of the dustiest shelves of the cheesy-SFTV idea warehouse.
Alternatively, I could also stomach it if it turns out she also has the brain control bug, and the things are networked and she can tap into it.
Hey, now that I could actually buy. Group consciousness is right up there as one of the possible goals of a human-augmentation movement (see the "New Humans" in Gene Roddenberry's
Star Trek: The Motion Picture novelization), and it's something that could potentially be achieved by cyborg implants that would network people together wirelessly. I think Cosima did wonder if the implant was hooked to one of Sarah's nerves, although I'd think a more direct brain connection would be necessary.
Still, being networked to the Neolutionists (the transhuman version of
Married to the Mob?) might tell Kira about their plans and intentions, but it wouldn't let her sense that the Clone Club might decide to burn Sarah. Or maybe the Neos are feeding her "visions" to turn her against the Club.
The Hendrixes are priceless, and I come to like them, even though Alison is my least favourite of Tatiana's characters.
I'm torn about the Hendrixes. Their storylines are kind of painful to watch, but in a disturbingly funny way. And Alison is one of Maslany's most impressive creations, because it's so damn easy to forget she
is Maslany. I keep having to remind myself it's the same actress. Admittedly, though, a lot of that is simply the bangs.
