Maybe some of the others were able to become pregnant, and their fetuses were taken to be the donors.

Similar to how they were running tests on Alison while she was asleep. Or the Dyad did something similar to what the Proletheans are doing with Helena and made their own.

Nothing is too far out for this program.

I think it might be darker than that, actually. Didn't Cosima say the stem cells came from crushed baby teeth? I know she was half-joking when she said that, but it implied that they weren't just something you could easily extract from a living host, so Kira wouldn't be the "donor."

You're right, I remember that now. Would it be at all possible to harvest the stem cells after Kira lost her baby teeth? Or do the cells die out with the tooth?

So are the stem cell cultures in Cosima's treatment from Kira? That seems to be what they were implying.

OR they have Susan locked in an underground cell somewhere so they can keep using fresh bits of her.

Or maybe they just have a piece of her.

What is his end game?

Clones for clones sake may have been 25 years ago, but things must have evolved?

Didn't he say that they lost the secrets/techniques that allowed successful cloning? That was the whole point of the fire and whatnot, wasn't it?

The fire destroyed the key to what makes cloning possible.

And since then the institute has spent 20 years failing to reverse engineer the girls back into that key.

Have you seen Never let Me Go?. The government invents clones in the early 1950s. Sure the clones grow up at normal speed. But once they hit twenty, the clones begin having operations. Parts are removed. And they keep having operations until they die and then the Doctors take everything else.

Or there's space colonization? Because Earth has an over population problem. We don't need an epidemic of clones to be used as cheep labour or soldiers until they finally win equal rights with naturally conceived human beings and then what's the point of doubling the size of the human race if you have to pay that lot minimum wage too?

"Look I made a clone!" is not enough, what are they for?

They explained that, too, I think. While the creators were just trying to do it to see if it was possible and/or create a daughter, it was the military that was originally interested in the project. And endless, replenishable supply of physically and mentally perfect soldiers has a certain appeal to it.

Who abandoned the project too.

Besides beneficial happy-accident of modern war is depopulation, since civilized armies are not allowed to rape and sack enemy cities and super powers can turn cities to dust with even conventional weaponry, that's off the table.

The Great Depression was fixed by the 10s of millions of deaths in World War 2.

The Current economic plight could also be fixed by sending another ten million Americans to die in some over seas war, but the current over seas wars are not really big enough.

The problem with creating 10 million clones to fight a war is that there are then ten million regular people who are now unemployable who would have been soldiers, and if 5 million clones come back, they're gonna want to eat and have their own lives now that they have earnt them which will displace 5 million workers from the public sector.

This is why they had the age limit in Bladerunner.

Although I can see them obeying orders to fall into a juicer when they become non viable as soldiers, and that goop flowing out the other side of said juicer is called soylent clone.

Whatever you want to say about Palpatine, you cannot mistake his wonderful sense of humour for anything else.

Did you see Dollhouse? Eliza Dushku is a pretty good actor,

She was the weakest pat of that show.

You do realize that just because she may have been in your opinion, the weakest actor in the Dolhouse cast, that doesn't mean necessarily that she wasn't still a "pretty good" actor -- unless you are saying that the rest of the Dollhouse cast were mediocre actors.

If so, I would strongly disagree.

Guess who is making their Orphan Black Season 2 debut this week? Ensign Ro/Admiral Cain. I remember the news saying that Forbes was going to be in Orphan Black and I've been wondering when that will be. The Season is 4 episodes from being over. Looks like we will finally see her.

With Forbes, the return of Rachel/Dyad, the events of last week and Ethan meeting Rachel, and Alison/Rehab/Family Day, this episode might be all kinds of amazing. Maybe I shouldn't have this high of expectations, but with the way this season has been developing from the premiere to now, bring it on. Orphan Black is so much better than anything else I watch on TV that I find myself having to watch the episode on Saturday Nights, even if I record it.

With Orphan Black, there is no such thing as high expectations. Whatever expectations you may have, they are always exceeded.

I expect Paul to say that he's using all the clones sexually, to make Felix jealous.

I don't think Cosima is buying what he's selling.

Good lord, I've binge watched this entire series in the last four days. I watched the pilot when it first aired and it didn't really gel but with some of the hype thought I'd try again and was fully taken with it.

I think I got fully hooked when I saw Cosima for the first time, she just seemed like a truly different person. And then I've come to adore Alison and the last episode with Helena was just amazing.

Just watched that Cloneversation promo and was impressed with how much Felix and Paul are different from the actors as well. I like that Felix sort of becomes a brother to all of the clones.

At least I only need to wait one more day for the next episode.

That's a nice thing about ten episode seasons. It's easy to binge watch. Honestly, if there was a reason to actually buy the blu ray, this show is it. Yeah you have streaming sites and on-demand, but Blu Ray makes things much easier to watch and you get behind the scenes stuff too. I'm honestly thinking about getting the season 1 blu rays this year. Either that or buying the show from Itunes.

I picked up the show on Amazon streaming for about 20 bucks. I was determined to get the bluray until I discovered it has practically nothing in the neighborhood of special features. It has like one thing but it's only a few minutes long and equates to nothing more than a featurette. Wasn't worth waiting for Amazon to physically ship me the discs when I could buy it for the same price and watch it right away.

That sucks. Considering what it takes to do a show like this, I thought there would be a wide variety of special stuff. Heck, just a half an hour conversation with both Tatiana and Jordan talking about stuff would be worth it. I love when they do interviews together.

Comcast currently has the whole series available OnDemand which is how I watched it so it was really convenient. With Memorial Day there's hasn't been much else to watch so it was a good week to binge this series.
