Opinion: Best Trek captain?

As a captain, Picard.

As a character, Sisko.

Yes.

Garrett's has 2x the cajones of all the male Captains put together.

Janeway's resourceful and not one to let an opportunity pass her by.

Jellico, though I didn't like him, got everything done. His way or the highway, but it was done.

Sisko > Kirk > Picard > Archer > Janeway

Kirk, Picard, Janeway and Archer were all good each in their own way. But the best, however, was, hands down, Benjamin Sisko. He should've been a captain from the start of DS9. Not waited till the last episode of season 3 to promote him.

He should have been promoted to Admiral at some point, IMO.

As the first warp five Captain: Jonathan Archer

As a five-year mission Captain: James T. Kirk

As a captain of a 24th century Enterprise: Jean-Luc Picard

As a captain of a space station: Benjamin Sisko

As a captain lost in the Delta Quadrant: Kathryn Janeway

As a captain well-versed in all-around douchebaggery: Captain Styles

:p :p :p

Excellent post. I particularly agree that Picard is the best captain of a 24th-Century Enterprise; the competition was fierce but he beat out such tough challengers as Picard, Picard and fan-favorite Pickard.

No matter how much I like Picard, and the fact that I have learned so much from him and think he is a very smart, smart man, it gets down to who would I feel safest exploring the galaxy with. And my answer has to be Kirk.

He doesn't care who he offends or even if he breaks the Prime Directive, the safety of his crew comes first. And that would make me able to go to sleep at night. Because Lord knows I can't get a good night's sleep with the leaders we have here in the real world.

As a captain, Sisko.

As a character, Kirk.

I would be courtmarshaled serving under Picard. The first time he decided to let a planet die because of the prime directive I would beam him down to the planet and say "Let me know when you change your mind."

I dare you to try that with Sisko. :rommie:

was shran a captain? if so him.

or picard. shields can't protect you from a Picard Speech.

Loop hole. The thread asks who is the best Trek Captain, not Federation Captain. So if Archer is eligible, so are Shran, and Tomalok.

I think Picard is the best. He seems to embody the ideals of the Federation the best and he was a scholar, warrior, diplomat, and he seemed to keep those in balance pretty good.

After that, it gets a bit tricky, but I'm going with Kirk, followed by Sisko.

Never liked Kirk. Janeway was poorly acted, but my favourites were Picard and Sisko.

Mulgrew owned that role. The writing on Voyager was pretty damn iffy, and Janeway was no exception.

Id say Picard, just because hes the most unique. There are plenty of Kirks and Siskos out there, but Picard is different.
