Ahhhh, that’s right. I’d forgotten that and only remembered it’s use in the Generations poster, which I guess is one of the first uses since it predated the 30th.

With Spock thought dead after the destruction of Romulus, the Vulcan High Command, under the strong influence of Picard, takes up Spock's reunification cause and invites any surviving Romulans to settle on Vulcan and Vulcan colonies, causing what's left of the Romulan fleet to start a war with the Federation.

Part of me hopes that Picard will be a limited series, a one-off season that develops his character in a natural way and maybe even gives him a noble end doing some good in the universe, before his Irumodic Syndrome progresses to the point that it robs him of his livelihood. It could mark the beginning of the "anthology series" that was once rumoured, giving characters and plots a 12/13 episode arc to tell its own story with some old characters returning along with all original newbies.

It's slated to run a maximum of three 10 episode seasons (at least that's what Mr. Stewart stated he signed up for); the later seasons are contingent of course on CBSAA picking up the option, and Mr. Stewart still being capable of performing in them of course.

speculating that these are prop replicas of something civilian picard wears when we see him interacting with young whippersnapper starfleet officers, potentially a variation on the new com badges.

I really hope they don't have this as a plot point. It was a nice device in AGT but it feels like rehashing old ground instead of showing a vibrant man continuing on well into his old age. I am more interested in the optimistic portrayal of aging (and it's more fitting with Picard's character) than in yet another "one last hoorah before we die" type mission.

I think we'll see Janeway in the series. Maybe as an Admiral who looks the other way or sticks up for Picard. Her or Riker. Given how long he was in Starfleet, Picard has to have some higher-ups who are still with him and are secretly on his side. They agree with him but they can't do what he's willing to do on principle.

I don't like to think that the man who told Data that one can do everything right and still lose - that such is the nature of life - would himself retreat to his grapes over an error he committed.

Nor do I relish watching space dementia take down a great man. That is not how I want to remember Picard.


I want Data back, I will believe any nonsense they care to spout if they will just convert B4 to Data.

There's a difference between "you did everything right and still lost" (meaning there is no possible outcome that would have been better given the circumstances) and losing because you did indeed do something wrong (meaning there are ways in which you could have reacted that would have lead to a better outcome).

I have no trouble seeing Picard withdrawing if he feels he committed a grave and terrible error, especially if it resulted in lives he was responsible for lost. He is a man of high standards, even or maybe especially in regards to himself.

Perhaps he just couldn't live up to his big words. Because sometimes there's a world of difference between how you think you'll react to a horrible situation and how you actually do.
