TMP uniforms were AWFUL!

The belt buckles where apparently medical monitors transmitting biodata back to sickbay in real time.

Like one bright spark nasty man wouldn't figure out how to use those belt buckles to target their torpedoes with?

Maybe that was the cause of extinction?

Or, after Kirk saved Earth from V'Ger, the Federation gave Starfleet a hefty award/bonus/reward, whereafter Starfleet had this HUGE surplus they didn't know what to do with...

New Uniforms for everyone, the Enterprise A, Genesis, and probably a million other little projects.

One of my favorite Janeway pics. That uniform looked fantastic on her.
Hey, she was supposed to have gotten that uniform off of Janice Rand. That shows a Lt. Cmdr insignia, and Rand was a junior Lieutenant in ST:VI.

Someone fire the costume director!

But if Kim showed up to work one morning dolled up in a TOS era uniform, he wouldn't be be put on report for being out of uniform? Gods if he showed up in the new uniform, would he be put on report for being out of uniform?
In Generations, much of the crew is shown alternating between the two uniform styles. Riker wears both at various points during the movie, as does a few of the other characters.

In Deep Space 9, not all the Starfleet personnel moved to the FC style uniforms at the same time, it was also a gradual shift.

I wonder if there is some leniency period when uniform styles changed.

Frankly, the TOS film-era uniforms were my favorite. They were the ones that were most militaristic, and looked like legit UNIFORMS instead of pajamas. The FC style uniforms also do a good job of looking legit. Since the TOS films were before TNG, I have no idea why they chose to make those uniforms so hideous. I've read that the actors hated wearing them, too, which led to the several modifications made during the TNG run.

this is by far the hardest question for me ^o^ but i have to go with Year of Hell, that episode pushed Janeway to the limit and i love the way she confronted the doctor after getting herself burned...amazing resilience and determination.
