Only 1...

My favorite episode is Blink of an Eye. Fantastic episode chronicling the development of that planet, and Voyager's influence on them.

A week after Voyager had left these guys, before they'd even encountered their next star, these blinky aliens should have finished colonizing the galaxy and begun looking at neighbouring galaxies.

Unless they died out before Voyager even left t heir star system?

Maybe they Ascended, like the Ancients in 'Stargate SG-1 / Atlantis'.

Maybe they have their own version of the Prime Directive.

Maybe they ARE out there, but hidden - seems like quite a few advanced races in the Trekverse go ninja.

Maybe they found another part of this Universe, or of another, more to their liking.

Various possibilities, really.

I think it was clearly established that whatever was causing them to accelerate was due to their planet. Once they left their planet, they should revert to normal space-time like the rest of the galaxy. The little temporal doohickey wristwatch that Jin-soo Kwon wore at the end was so that he didn't die during the transition between temporal frames.

Period doesn't mean old.

It means from a specific point in time.

Right now we're all wearing period costumes from this era.

Or we're naked.

true, Picard wore the TOS film uniform in the NG episode Tapestry while a cadet at the Academy. It was more than just a costume.

Picard was born in 2305. That puts his first days as a an ensign squarely in the 2320s, 40 years before Picard got the Enterprise and 50 years before Janeway got Voyager..

Although Rachel Garret was wearing the TOS movie uniform in the 2240s.

That suit had some severe stickitudity.

But if Kim showed up to work one morning dolled up in a TOS era uniform, he wouldn't be be put on report for being out of uniform? Gods if he showed up in the new uniform, would he be put on report for being out of uniform?

What forces "force" an institution to rebrand?

War?

Peace?

political change?

in the dominion war, the casualty reports were numbering into the billions.

(That must have included civilians as planets fell.)

If after the war they were looking for an instant injection of fresh blood...

A billion new kids with no emotional ties to the old uniforms, and everyone else with the memories of a billion friends in those old uniforms burnt, perforated, bisected and suffocated.

TMP uniforms were AWFUL!

The belt buckles where apparently medical monitors transmitting biodata back to sickbay in real time.

Like one bright spark nasty man wouldn't figure out how to use those belt buckles to target their torpedoes with?
