Spoilers Once Upon a Time Season 7

^^ It's not stupid, it's malicious.

Nick did indeed turn out to be Hansel The Ripper, and that plotline came to a head fast. And he is definitely aware of his former life in the Enchanted Forest. I wonder if there is some rhyme or reason to some people being awake and others unaware. The collaboration between Henry and Rumpy to profile the Candy Killer was interesting, especially Rumpy's nurturing of Henry by claiming to have read his book. I wonder if Hansel learned of the circumstances of his sister's death by reading the book or if he already knew.

Wow, I expected the Hansel/Nick reveal to be stretched out a bit longer.
Henry and Rumple working together was pretty good, I hadn't realized until now that we really hadn't seen them interact much this season.
Henry's proposal was good too. It must have been hard to find somewhere where nothing had ever happened.

Timeline Check: Zelena first met young Hansel and Gretel from another realm when she was still the Wicked Witch.

So let's say the events at the Gingerbread House took place 20 years ago, and Hansel/Jack is now presumably in his 30s.

If Hyperion Heights is 13 to 15 years after Storybrooke, then I suppose Zelena's encounter with the kids is consistent with the overall timeline.

One could hardly blame Mr. Ivo for being mad at Zelena after finding out the truth from Hansel and Gretel. If she had at least made an attempt to help the children escape from the Gingerbread House, their opinion of her would be different. Instead, she refused to get involved. Furthermore, she didn't tell Ivo the children's whereabouts. Although she came back for them later, they had already escaped from the Blind Witch and told their blind father everything.

I'm happy Zelena is still getting a happy ending with Chad.

"Chosen" was another really good episode. However, I'm really bummed that the show is wrapping up. I'm going to miss it so much. Season 7 has been really good even with all the actors and actresses that left the show. I'm glad they'll be returning for the final episode, though. I just wish there would be an eighth season or at least, a new spinoff.

Hansel's death left me with a feeling of dissatisfaction. Sure, he was a crazy candy killer, but he was tortured by a witch when he was a kid, and a witch killed his sister. Generally, murderous characters on this show are rehabilitated rather than killed off. His whole story seemed rather superfluous to the arc of the season. That, plus the fact that the witch who orchestrated the curse left for the Enchanted Forest before the curse was broken and the storyline resolved, is giving the whole thing a haphazard feeling.

And apparently Doctor Facilier's motivation is simply to acquire the Dark One's power, which is also unrelated to the curse and was thrown in midway through the season. Did the writers not have a plan, or did they change it along the way when they realized the show would be over? It's like the season started off slow, got better, and then descended into chaos.

This was a pretty good ending to the Candy Killer story.
I did not expect Hansel's story to connect to Zelena.
Did we know that Gothel was also after the Dark One Dagger? I don't remember that being mentioned before, but Facilier talked about it like it was common knowledge.

I can almost hear Henry's revelation:

"Lucy, I am your father."

I didn't quite understand how Rumple's dagger went missing from the evidence room and ended up in Tilly's backpack. I thought Facilier was the one who took it after he killed Nick/Hansel. The flashback did reveal that Rumple wanted to choose Alice as the Guardian of the dagger, but then he realized he couldn't let Alice carry that burden. Regina is now pissed at Rumple after he took the magic bottle from her.

I think it's supposed to be a bit of a mystery how Tilly ended up with the dagger at this point. I'm really enjoying her relationship with Margot.
I'm curious how going Henry and Jacinda are going to try to explain Henry being Lucy's father since they have no memory of knowing each other before he arrived in Hyperion Heights. I wonder if they'll just wake up on their own once they realize that everything Lucy was saying is true?
I got a big kick out of the Coco references in the place where Rumple went to talk to Belle.
Watching this one I couldn't help but think about just how much the characters have changed over the years. Back when the show started I never would have believed that Regina would actually end up one of the shows main heroes within a handful of seasons.

Oh, man, I thought the deadly kiss would happen in that last scene. You know it's got to happen eventually.

In this episode, we really saw Rumpy like we've never seen him before. Not just scared and frustrated, but literally powerless against Facilier-- that scene where Facilier banished him to his car with a wave of his hand was pretty amazing. I still think there's got to be more to Facilier than meets the eye and he is not out to get the dagger just for its own sake-- I suspect he will play a big part in the breaking of the curse. And we also saw Rumpy return to full Dark One mode after Belle's death, yet still retain enough sense of self to pull back from passing along the Dark One curse to Alice at the last moment.

It was kind of heartwarming to see Alice and Robin recreating their relationship under the curse, completely unaware of their past relationship-- they remind me of Snow and Charming, always gravitating to each other. I like the whole bookstore thing, too.

I was disappointed that Nick was really dead. Up until the last moment, I thought they would find him in a coma or something. On a show that has constantly returned to the theme of redemption, it feels wrong that he should die without a chance to atone-- especially given that his actions were due to madness brought on by childhood trauma. Maybe they still have something up their sleeves for him before the show ends.

I didn't realize Gothel was very old, as the episode showed that the "current day" events in Hyperion Heights are set thousands of years later after the flashbacks.

I'm wondering now if it isn't Alice & Robin that break the Curse...

That's certainly possible. I was wondering the same thing. Then again considering Henry is the main character this season and of the next episode, it is most likely that he and Ella break the curse.

Okay, so let me see if I have this straight: Gothal is a Wood Nymph whose fascination with humans brought on a near-total genocide of Wood Nymphs by humans, so she retaliated by inflicting complete genocide on the human race, which turned out to be a previous human race that was identical to the current human race, right down to customs and fashions, and then she went away to another dimension to wait for another human race to evolve, because she knew that the new human race would be the same as the old human race, so then she would return to take revenge upon that human race, too, and that new human race is us. That's a bit of a stretch.

And Facilier did indeed cure Henry of the curse within a curse, and he got to kiss Jacinda without dying-- that's nice, although I pictured a more dramatic climax where he kissed her and fell down into a deathly coma and was saved at the very last second before expiring. They kind of missed the boat on that one. But it's an interesting twist that their kiss did not break the overlying curse. Is it simply because Jacinda made a point out of the kiss being between their curse personas? Or is there yet another mystery brewing?

Well, that was an interesting reveal our realm used to have magic until Gothel took it all away and killed off humans as well.
That was definitely not a reveal I saw coming.
The kiss not breaking the curse was definitely a surprise, I'm curious what will do it. I'm thinking it will probably still involve Henry is some way.
Remember the kiss that broke the first curse was when Emma kissed a comatose Henry, so it's not always romantic love that works.

Maybe Henry should give his daughter a kiss then. It's hard to believe that there are just three episodes of OUaT left.

What a fantastic episode tonight. I have to admit: this season has been difficult to watch with the mostly new characters and new setting. But alas, the spell has been broken with true love's kiss, and we learn that the characters were sent back in time to modern-day Seattle. I've always postulated that 15 years have passed since Henry graduated from high school and left Storybrooke, which makes adult Henry 32 - 33 years old. Everyone has regained his or her memory. Gothel gets her comeuppance, and so does Facilier!

The series finale is next week, and while I felt initially the show really ended last season, I've grown accustomed to these characters. It's been a fun ride.
