Once Upon A Time Season 4

I'm actually disappointed by that one. I was really hoping we'd get to some more closure for Wonderland through him.
I am glad Robin will be a regular and I don't mind Zelena. Given her and Robin's story right now, it does make sense that they would be regulars.

I wonder if the writers signed him for a full year, intending to give him an amazing story, and then just slowly forgot about him and put it off until they finally reached the end of the year and had an oh shit moment

I'm disappointed, too. I liked that Wonderland series, despite its many problems and was hoping for a bit of closure.

I think they did the same thing with Little Red Riding Hood. She was full time one season and they barely used her athen just let her go.

^It makes one wonder if the people making contractual decisions have ever even met the writers. Either that or some random executive has just enough pull to get people hired as regulars but not enough pull to get them a good storyline.

The actress playing Ruby AKA Red Riding Hood AKA Meghan Ory, got the co-lead in another series, "Intelligence" that premiered Jan 2014 so it must have filmed summer/fall 2013, that's why we didn't see her much in that season of OUaT.

Once the other series was canceled, Ory did come back briefly in the latter half of season 3, but by then the writers had either gotten used to not writing for Ruby or feared building much onto her character. Perhaps they feared the actress might leave again since they couldn't guarantee a certain number of eps to lock her into a contract, in case their muses led them away from the character.

Similar things happened with Sidney Glass and Mulan.

Sidney Glass AKA Giancarlo Esposito left after season 1 to do 2 seasons/42 eps of "Revolution" and 7 eps of "Allegiance" in 2015. Sure, he came back in season 5's "Frozen" arc, but only briefly before escaping Regina's control.

Mulan AKA Jamie Chung did 11 eps in season 2 of OUaT in 2012-2013 then went to do 13 eps of "Believe" in 2014 and 7 of "Resident Advisers" in 2015. I wonder if with Mulan, the writers were warned away from the storyline they introduced, or if they felt they were writing themselves into a corner and so abandoned the gay storyline.

The Meghan Ory situation was an anomaly that hasn't been repeated.

What happened there was this: ABC asked Adam and Eddy to accelerate their narrative timetable and bring Snow and Emma back from Misthaven sooner than they had originally been planning, resulting in an excision of a planned story arc for Ory's character, and in the process of shifting things around and the organized chaos of shooting, letting Ory know about her storyline being cut fell by the wayside until she spoke out about the situation online, thus resulting in A&E magnanimously releasing her from her contract and allowing her to find work elsewhere.

This Michael Socha situation is in no wise similar, and his 'demotion' to Recurring status really has no bearing on how much he'll be used.

Me too. I kept hoping since Intelligence ended she'd come back, but from that other post that does sound unlikely.

It says Arthur was in 24: Live Another Day, but I don't recognize him.
The article says Guinevere and Merlin hadn't been cast yet, but I could have sworn I had read that they cast Guinevere a month or two back.
I like Dark Swan.

Hard to recognize him after Jack Bauer threw him out a window several stories up. :D

He played the evil son of Michelle Fairley's character. He was pretty good in the role.

I'm more familiar with him from Strikeback, but I do remember seeing him in 24:LAD a few weeks back.

Looking forward to this returning and Dark Swan does look interesting.

I do remember the son, I just didn't realize that was him. He did give a good performance there.
I can't wait to see OUaT's take on Arthurian mythology. I wonder if they'll take anything from The Sword in the Stone or do a completely new version?

Looks like Hook is going to have some competition in the hunk department. :rommie:
