Once Upon A Time Season 4

I have a feeling most of the people who are going to spend money on the home video/digital download releases, are probably people who are already fans and want to own it. Most of the people who just wanted to see it for Frozen probably watched it for free during the regular season.

It was the Frozen storyline that nearly drove me away from thr show completely last season. It just draaaaaaged until after Christmas when they moved on mid-season.

The DVD cover is an unfortunate reminder of last season's shoe-horned Frozen plot. I'm only so-so excited for season five.

The Frozen storyline is what brought my wife and I to the show and we stayed after it was wrapped up. We enjoyed the Frozen storyline immensely and in fact it was better then the second half of the season. We just picked it up on Blu-Ray, look forward to rewatching at some point.

My blu-ray is on the way, so hopefully I'll have chance to work it in before the new series starts.

I felt the first part of the season was better than the second, but either way, enjoyed the full series.

I'm 2/3 of the way through watching Season One. I started the show, watched about 8 eps, abandoned it, then return in S2. It's so weird watching these early episodes where they don't have the memory of their true selves. There's so many more characters who just disappeared as the show went along like Red and Granny and the Dwarves and Jiminy Cricket and on and on. What happened to these characters? Did they just stop appearing because they ran out of story for them?

I just saw "Hat Trick" which introduced the Mad Hatter. That was especially weird having seen the Wonderland spinoff.

The show just focused less on them in the later seasons. They may make the occasional gust appearance. Just pretend they are still hanging around town in the background unseen.

But I doubt we will get to see Dr Whale or Tinkerbell anytime soon, they on another show now.

A very bad pattern with this show is how the writers completely waste some of their main cast, resulting in them leaving like Red and Will Scarlett. Michael Socha was pretty much paid to stand around in the background for an entire season!

"Hat Trick" came first, so any continuity issues should be blamed on the spinoff. ;)

^ There * are * no continuity conflicts between OUaTiW and episodes like Hat Trick, as the flashbacks in the former take place before and during the First Curse as cast by Regina.

Granny, the Dwarves and Jiminy still appear off and on. I'm reawatching season 3 right now, and Leroy and Archie have both been in at least 1 episode.
Most of the recurring characters who actors are still available still pop up from time to time.
Here's how many times each of the characters you mentioned appeared. I'm just doing Leroy for the Dwarves since he was the most prominent and I don't really feel like going through all 14 characters. Some of the episodes do feature both versions of the characters, but they are on separate pages of the OUAT so I'm just counting them separately.
Archie/Jiminy Cricket:
Season 1: 8 as Archie/ 4 as Jiminy
Season 2: 7 as Archie/ 1 as Jiminy
Season 3: 6 as Archie/ 1 as Jiminy
Season 4: 1 as Archie/ 0 as Jiminy
He was also in 22 episodes of Murder in the First during the 2014/15 season, so that would explain why he was in so few OUATs.
Leroy/Grumpy:
Season 1: 4 as Leroy/6 as Grumpy
Season 2: 12 as Leroy/2 as Grumpy
Season 3: 8 as Leroy/5 as Grumpy
Season 4: 6 as Leory/2 as Grumpy
Ruby/Red:
Season 1: 17 as Ruby/ 6 as Red
Season 2: 11 as Ruby/ 3 as Red
Season 3: 2 as Ruby/1 as Red
Season 4: 0 as Ruby/0 as Red
She was on 13 episodes of Intelligence in 2014, so that would explain why she was in so few episodes the last couple seasons.
Granny (Storybrooke)/Granny (Enchanted Forest)
Season 1: 10 as Granny (Storybrooke)/ 3 as Granny (Enchanted Forest)
Season 2: 10 as Granny (Storybrooke)/ 1 as Granny (Enchanted Forest)
Season 3: 10 as Granny (Storybrooke)/ 4 as Granny (Enchanted Forest)
Season 4: 7 as Granny (Storybrooke)/ 1 as Granny (Enchanted Forest)

I think some of her appearances are pretty much just her handing some food to someone in the diner, saying a line or two and then going back behind the counter.

They had to write her off because Ory was on that show with Josh Holloway, but she said that if she could come back she'd love to. Since that show ended she has the time again.

That's not what happened.

Back during Season 2 of Once, ABC asked Adam, Eddy, and the other writers and producers to accelerate their previously-settled-upon timetable for the way in which the storyline for that season was going to play out and bring Emma and Snow back from the Enchanted Forest earlier, which necessitated a number of rewrites and the excision of a planned storyline involving Ruby. However, in the process of trying to acquiesce to ABC's request, Adam and Eddy neglected to inform Meghan that they had been forced to abandon her planned storyline. A confused Meghan spoke out about the situation publicly, prompting Adam and Eddy to apologize, and led directly to her being allowed to audition for the Intelligence pilot and subsequently freed from her contractual obligations to Once.

Something similar happened to Michael Socha.

^ Do you have any evidence backing this up? Because I haven't seen or heard anything that indicates what may have contributed to Socha not being used as much as A&E had indicated that he was supposed to be.

Adam: Anastasia, the Red Queen. And um, and uh, and also how he wound up in Storybrooke and all that. Hopefully we’ll be able to get to some of that this year. We love Michael Socha.

Eddy: Love Socha. Love everything. It’s just, you know, there’s just so many…there’s just so many people that it’s like, it’s sometimes hard to do that story and sacrifice Regina’s story. That’s just showbiz.
