I thought there was no god. Now I know for sure.

Oh come on. If God was the sort of Star Trek fan who smote the producers every time they did something he didn't like, what kind of show would we have? 'Touched by an Angel', probably.

I smell a rat. I wouldn't be surprised if this is just one huge joke by some fan put out for the sole purpose of getting all your panties in a bunch.

In other words, chill out. Wait for official word before you all start a crusade. Not that it wouldn't be incredibly funny to watch.

Ouch! That hurts. They are trying to make Enterprise too much like the 24th century. I wish they had explored the numerous TOS aliens that we never heard about beyond one episode.

Y'know, it's interesting. Not too long ago, everyone here was talking about how cool it would be if there was an episode done around one of the Borg corpses that got blasted into space by Worf and Picard during First Contact. Now, there's news about a similar concept for an episode later this season, and you're all beating war drums over it.

I find it highly unlikely that all ENT fans are going to storm the gates of Paramount and having read the article it sounds to me like it might be quite good.

The Borg ship did crash on Earth so why not have a story about it?

:borg: :D :borg:

(de-lurks)
Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents and say that the story sounds pretty cool. IF handled right, it could be a kick-butt ep. without totally messing up our beloved canon. However, if the Borg show up more than, I dunno, once more after this, then it may be time to freak out.

How 'bout because the Borg have been DONE TO FUCKING DEATH?

True but hasn't Star Trek itself been done to death?

As I've posted in another thread on this subject, I actually believe that this is not nearly as bad as some of you guys make it out to be. There was nothing in the synopsis that violated continuity, provided that the two drones and anyone they assimilate are vaporized by the end of the episode or disappear in a wormhole. If anything, I believe that this episode will ensure a Borg-free ENT for the rest of its run. Otherwise, the shark will have been jumped.

Actually, the Sphere was destoyed in orbit. But, there was enough debris and in large enough chunks to fall to Earth and survive the trip through the atmosphere.

True, but how many times must the Borg be trotted out when ratings sag? Can't they find a new gimmick for once?

Wow! Overreaction, much? Jeez, this story CAN fit continuity and DOES sound interesting. None of that Borg Queen crud. I'll look forward to seeing it, BUT I'm still highly skeptical. Voyager's love story with the Borg wasn't that long ago and if B&B revert to their scary old ways in the hope that they'll boost ratings, then I'm bailing. But please, shooting down a story possibility the second it comes out of the gates, as well as calling for people's heads? Please...

*loads shotgun*

To paraphrase Picard:

NO! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
They invade our franchise and we fall back. They destroy 35 year old legacies and we fall back. The line must be drawn HERE! THIS FAR, NO FURTHER! AND WEEEE WILL MAKE THEM PAY FOR WHAT THEY'VE DONE!

B&B. Is there anything they won't do?

Sorry to upset you - I hate this Borg idea as much as anyone - but Braga did write that line you've just quoted with such enthusiasm. Maybe these guys aren't all bad, but they're just trying to flog this dead horse until its flayed, and if they don't then Paramount will appoint someone else to do it. Forget TNG style rebirth, Trek is dead.

If it is a case of the Borg being trotted out then maybe it is an attempt to get back the 24th Century fans but I prefer to think it's an idea someone has had for a while ever since First Contact and now they have a chance to do it.

They couldn't have done this story during VOY but in ENT we can go back to earth and perhaps see what impact the Borg have had on the timeline.

Can we examine that last confident statement in the light of the demise of Columbia please ?

I always thought they wouldn't do it, but they just can't leave the Borg alone can they

I don't care about the continuity aspects. What is bothering me is that the producers seem so bankrupt for ideas that they are trotting out an overused concept that many fans are tired of seeing. MORE BORG STORIES???

We've already had two series and one movie overuse the Borg. This just smacks of desperation and is exactly what they did on Voy when the ratings started to drop. They trotted out the Borg and then advertised it as a major "EVENT".

I just wish that instead of capitalizing on another series sucesss, Ent would have developed a unique and interesting concept of its own. Whenever anyone has asked what race they NEVER wanted to see again, the majority of polls on this board and others have said "The Borg". Even putting continuity aside, many people don't want to see them because we've watched TPTB overuse and castrate this race for years.
