OMG! B&B have gone MAD!!! BORG!!!

Why in this god-forsaken universe are B&B reintroducing the Borg? For heaven's sake, give it a rest!!!
They're beating a dead dog!

There are dozens of TOS races that weren't given past one episode. Explore them! Go back and search for intricate storylines from TOS that you can build upon, but please B&B do not regurgitate yesterday's dinner!

Dead horse. We also would've accepted "pumping a dry well" or "squeezing blood from a stone".

Good god, you people really need to take a few steps back and relax. It's just a TV show. Take a deep breath and repeat that. It's just a TV show.

Here down South we accept "squeezing blood from a turnip."
The dog stays... ;) :D

Borg ain't a dead dog. Here's a vivid proof ...

In Archer's time, them Borgs could be just like puppies. Of course they'll be digging up a Borg from the 24th Century, so it will be a brand new find for them 22nd century scientists regardless.

They wanna use the BORGS because they are most recognizable. It's the power of name recognition versus continunity versus Canon versus Fanon versus $$$.

Care to spill out some of them TOS races that Kirk have ALREADY met before and thus a possible candidate to be included in ENT without going thru the same continunity/Canon check like the Klingon's, Ferengi's, Romulan's and so forth? Then we shall see if some casual Trek fans will ever recognize them. :p

I just wish people would give it a chance..
bash it after ward if you dont like it.

one of the lessons of this season is some of the best episodes had some of the least expectation.

Oh, how I love seven page threads. Thank you B&B.

We are bermanbraga. Continuity is irrelvant. Your forum will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.

:borg: :p :borg:

Byrdman:
GET A FUCKING LIFE, PEOPLE!!!

Jesus! Does this really matter? You all act like this is one of the signs of the apocalypse or somthing. From a continuity standpoint, there's NOTHING wrong with this premise.

If it bothers you so much, just stop watching and shut up already!

Dial it back dude. This is big news and a little hyperbole of suprise is understandable. No need to shout at people or insult them.

broberfett:
Most of you will eat it and like it.

Ditto for you, dude.

AlyssaJ:
Plus, I bet it will get huge ratings. Which is the point, of course.

"Joe Millionaire" gets huge ratings. ENT gets ratings that are basically there just to keep UPN financially viable. Whatever stunt B&B plan, we're never getting back to TNG numbers.

reno:
Y'know, I'm beginning to think they could show you 43 minutes of paint drying on a wall, and if it had 'Enterprise' slapped at the front, you'd gush about what a cool episode it was.

And there are those who could turn the argument around and switch the name with yours if they so chose. But that wouldn't be a very productive argument. Let's remember to focus on the issues and not each other. C'mon man, you know better. Thanks.

AlphaMan:
I'll admit that Regeneration sounds very good, but that's not the point, like I said. If Regeneration is a one time Borg pop, then I can live with it.

Bottom line, we want a show that's entertaining. If 'Regeneration' works as a story, well, screw continuity. If it's a one shot, fine. If it starts a whole new arc, well as long as the episodes are executed well, fine. The reason so many of us are trepidatious about the borg is because we saw how overreliance on them poisoned VOY and we don't want to see the same mistake. As long as the episodes are strong and not like the same damn Seven-learns-a-lesson episode over and over again, then we'll all be fine I think.

T'Bonz:
What next? Seven of Mary Sue?

*cough*T'Pol*cough*

;)

As for the arguments about this helping explain the Hansens, well, I never thought that was ever explained very well. I have been of the opinion that their ship launched later than most people assume and Seven's aging was accelerates so that she's actually much younger than she appeared on VOY.

But I doubt we'll ever get an explicit explanation of any of that. Throw TCW into the mix and I'm thinking we might be headed toward the mother of all reset buttons come series finale time. We'll see.

You poor bastard! :D :borg: :borg: :borg: :borg: :D

P.S. Fortunately, T'Pol, even with the catsuit, is very different than Seven of Mary Sue. THANK you! :D

Thousands of years ago, the ancient Egyptians invented the BATTERY, with the purpose of plating gold and silver on to other, less precious metals like copper and perhaps even brass. That knowledge was lost until just 204 years ago when some fella named Alessandro VOLTA 'invented' it again (or was it the Energizer bunny?) ...

Knowledge can be lost, suppressed or twisted out of context.

If you've got a few thousand years of seperation, a couple of language barriers and a few destructive military campaigns with neither side truly interested in science and technology, then you could justify the loss of the information. It helps if the culture becomes more or less extinct in the meantime.

But in an age marked by global and interstellar communication, digital recording media, a standardized language, widespread literacy and tertiary education, a collective effort to make contact with alien life forms and a centralized organization (Starfleet) that handles these things and doesn't become conveniently extinct, suddenly you've got a completely different environment regarding the spread and storage of information ;)

Trying to pull the same disappearing act, well, that is twisting it out of context. These are different situations, with different people with different priorities. Drawing a parallel isn't just a stretch, it's a break.

BTW, Enterprise is meant to be about humanity's first big push into deep space, depending on their ingenuity, resourcefullness and courage. Making Enterprise about how humanity blazed into glory on the wings of BORG ( :borg: ) is a waste of the premise and of the oxygen that fuels our brain cells.

But then, we can always rely on B&B :borg:

UPN execs will do anything for ratings now. Amazing how DS9 stood on its own without the Borg

Appraently DS9 couldn't stand on it's own since they tried boosting sagging ratings by adding a well loved TNG character to the show in the 4th season.

They may screw it up royally, but handled correctly, it could be a monumental cross-series/movie puzzle peice.

I agree, but they're going to have to be reeeeaally careful.

I'll have to watch the episode to see if we dodge the continuity bullet.

Man, they shouldn't have even risked this though.

It takes balls to do it. I like that.

I don't think that the Borg have raised ratings since Dark Frontier. If they did since it was only a few tenths of a ratings point.

It may be that only we see the Borg. The Enterprise may just fight some strange ship and that's it.

Writing a letter won't stop this episode since I'm sure it's due to be filmed in a few weeks. It's too late to stop it.

(it was he who thought that V'Ger was altered by the Borg, after all, and that's probably Trek's first Retcon)
Actually, I'm 99% sure that it was Gene Roddenberry who speculated that. Give blame where blame is due. Give credit where credit is due.

Uhm....re-read my post. I haven't attributed that retcon to anyone other than Roddenberry. That was my point.

Sadly because the episodes that I had hight expectations for, Carbon Creek, The Communicator, Shockwave Part II, all went down the crapper. Dead Stop was the only one I was truly surprised, in a good way by.

Here's my idea for a poll:

Should the Borg be incorporated into the ENTERPRISE timeline?

1.) Yes, we love Bergmana and realize that instead of actually being original, creative, or thoughtful, we must use any type of farce to pull our beloved show out of ratings slop.

2.) No, we realize that this will probably royally-screw Star Trek continuity and is a childish attempt at a ratings improvement for a mediocre show that we all REALLY want to like, but just can't.

3.) Huh? What's a Bergmana? Can we eat it?

Please, Morpheus, tell us this synopsis is bogus.

Afraid I cannot do that. The story is still evolving, and I even heard a poster elsewhere say they heard a rumor that Phlox would be the one to get assimilated - a rumor I can neither confirm nor deny here. However, I suppose all that really matters to many is this one simple fact: The Borg will be back before the end of this season.
