Looking at the slate, we will have two seasons of SNW and a third possible (5 is the new norm for long running shows on streaming platforms), one season of the Starfleet Academy show, and the Section 31 movie. I am cynical about a theatrical movie.

Never said he was. Just trying to think of a character that might potentially still be alive 100 years after Picard S3, even given longer lifespans. Use Data or Worf, whatever.

With the collapse of the Paramount/Skydance negotiations and potential austerity plans incoming at the studio if they can't find a buyer, I'm beginning to doubt Starfleet Academy makes it.

They still need to make content. Trek is one of their most known commodities. They're not gonna nix what is surly one of their biggest subscription drivers. We may see less Trek, but we're still gonna get something.

We'll likely still get Trek, but I imagine it will be a thoroughly cost reduced Trek. Which makes me wonder how much Hunter/Giamatti are bringing in, and will it align with the austerity movement.

It wasn't. It was pretty average or higher with being genre fiction.

The roots are action and adventure.

No. Cost was a factor in why they were hesitant to pick up TOS after The Cage and why they tried to cancel it after season 2.

But seriously, actually reading the TOS Writer's Guide, it's funny just how much the 90s shows were in violation of the Gene's Fundamental Rules for Writing Trek.

It makes absolutely no sense to compare the special effects of a network show in the 1960s with those of a streaming show in the 2020s.

What an absurd claim. How in the wide world of sports does a show in the 60s have the same VFX as a show in the 2020s? That...that's not even apple to oranges, that's apples and cubic zirconium level comparison. The things have nothing in common other than being TV shows produced for a mass audience.
