Ok. What is the chance of a Picard spinoff?

He’s more more less Kelvin Kirk with the serial numbers rubbed off. We’ll see if they can do something more with the character.

He's definitely Kelvin Kirk, and Kelvin Kirk (in 2009) worked extremely well. Some of you may have disliked that film and his portrayal, but mainstream audiences loved it and it was successful.

This will probably upset a select few of you... but I have a feeling the journey of Star Trek:Legacy is Jack's journey towards eventually taking Command (just like Burnham.....and Kelvin Kirk).

They literally made up the Captain's special counsel position so he could wear Command Red and sit with the commanding officers in the chairs. There's obviously a reason for that.

If anything Jack (and the younger officers) needed the older generation to save them in the finale.

It never occurred to the younger officers to hack the bussard covers (they left that task to Shaw).

Speelers is well-cast. Matalas said he wanted an actor that could effectively play against Stewart, and had that Shakespearean quality in his delivery. It works.

Jack IS supposed to be Picard's son. :shifty:

Since when have you liked the Kelvin Films? I thought you hated all New Trek that wasn't PIC Season 3.

He isn't Michael Burnham. Not a Mary Sue as you stated

There would be no Discovery if not for the JJ reboot.

It was what launched this new iteration of Trek and revitalized the dead franchise. It built a new audience. It needs to be recognized for that.

Not to mention, the 2009 film made Trek 'cool' to mainstream audience, even if it was just for a limited time.

Chris Pine, Karl Urban, Zack Quinto, it was a great cast. Perhaps the best cast of Nu Trek, and the film was a success.

Didn't answer my question.

Genuis intellect. Roguish borderline criminal. Badass fighter. Master of many skills. Funky mind powers. Relative of two Starfleet legends.

Pull the other leg.

He just needs to save the entire Multiverse and all sentient life on his first go, and he's there.

Patience, it will happen.

Well you shouldn't have made that assumption then.

Ahead of Raffi? (Who's Seven's XO and a full Commander with decades of experience? :wtf: )

No ... :shifty:

He's the son of Picard.

He's destined to command the Enterprise someday, even if the entire Legacy series builds towards that moment.

Would Matalas really not go that route? ;)

So what about SNW?

I don't love it, but I like it. Memento Mori and the Omelas ripoff are good episodes.

Anson Mount and his hair elevate the series.

No need to be offended.

No, there was a need to get offended. You used a really demeaning turn of phrase to describe a power dynamic that did not exist. It was gross.

It was great seeing Jack break Seven's perpetually angry persona and make her laugh. I knew that was a sign of their dynamic for Legacy. And it also shows that Jack has a personality and brings levity to the table. That's the kind of thing audiences would want in a series leading man.

There's potential for a fun dynamic between the two of them, and that needs to work for this show to work.

This is a much more appropriate way to express what you were trying to communicate. Use this kind of language and you won't come across as being demeaning.

He isn't Michael Burnham. Not a Mary Sue as you stated.

Jack is much closer to a Mary Sue than Michael is. He's a character with no real flaws, who is preternaturally competent, whose crimes were always justified, over whom literally everybody was fighting, who has special magic powers, and who is given special dispensation by authorities.

He's not a Mary Sue, of course, but he checks a lot more of the "Is This A Mary Sue?" boxes than Michael ever did.

Starfleet wanted to protect him from the Borg and they didn't know what to do with him.

So they handed him to Seven of Nine and Enterprise.
