Official Trailer Review & Comments Thread!! [Spoilers, of course]

I loved the trailer...especially the epicness of it and the visuals! I'm ready for a change in tradtional Trek! Can't wait for the second trailer and of course the actual movie!

"By your command."

Please tell me people don't still believe the cop is a cyborg or a robot.
I've watched the trailer so many times now and there is absoloutely nothing
to imply that. He's just a guy wearing a highspeed suit and helmet with
what looks like a scanner on one side of his slit visor.
By the way loving the trailer more everytime I see it.

I agree, its a human cop.
Looks like a cyborg to me. The "POLICE 924" marking on the "head" and the electronic voice pop after he finishes speaking both seem robotic to me.

Why would a robot be in a jumpsuit like that? The guy is a cop that happens to ride a hover bike. Depending on how fast that thing can go it would be pretty tough to breathe and or see without protection.

If it's a human, it looks to be rather hard to breathe and see with that thing covering the whole face. Why would a human need, or want, that? Is the air that bad?

I would SO VERY prefer the E not be constructed in IOWA. :( But, unfortunately, this enlarged shot of the sign at the construction site seems to suggest IA is exactly where they are building her.

Yes indeed!

Is it just me or have shuttles changed in usage as well - here they seem to support the main ship like fighters..

Interesting! I assumed they were evacuating.
I think you're right - its an evacuation. They aren't firing. They're heading away from the Kelvin, toward the camera.

That's not IA, that's a 1, or a line, followed by a Starfleet emblem.

If you watch the trailer - the blue bit seems to stay "up-right" as the rest rotates and I think that's spock (wearing a cape) who you can see piloting it.

Exactly. I could buy the argument that it's just a guy with a helmet on if the headpiece wasn't so complex. But it's not. I say it's a cyborg.

I hope it is, at least. A cyborg cop would be so much cooler than a human cop.

:borg: > :)

Ok those didn't work but I found something that did...anyway I saw the detail of the 1080p trailer...I am just blown away! I am going to record and play the trailer on ET later on my 46" tv.

RAMA

It was edited on ET, I wound up burning it to disk.:techman:

Wasn't there once some debate about the nature of Stormtroopers?

I think this 'the E is in Iowa' thing is just confusion born of the switch from the Iowa scene of kiddie-Kirk to grown up Kirk on the motorbike - the probably unintentional implication is that both occur in the same place, when in the movie I imagine the greater separation of the scenes will likely emphasises that this is not, in fact, the same place.

The sophistication of Data was a unique achievement in the time of TNG (save for all the crazy Soongdroids the old guy left behind, of course). I realize that this production isn't beholden to that (or almost any other) tidbit of canon, but there generally haven't been many humanoid robots on Trek. (Okay, Roger Korby's toys are the other glaring exception. :D )
