Official Trailer Review & Comments Thread!! [Spoilers, of course]

Kirk seems to be gettin' it on in the same type of room Uhura is taking off her top in. Enterprise crew quarters? What would an Orion be doing on the Enterprise?

My guess is that she's rooming with Uhura.

That's why Jim's under the bed.

Uhura takes off her shirt because she thinks she's alone with the Orion chick.

Only thing that makes sense to me.

You guys need to take editing into count. The background suggests these rooms are starship standard-- just cause we see a shot of Uhura doesn't mean she is in the room, or that it is her's.

You can actually see the headboard of a second bunk next to the one that Kirk and the Orion are on. But we'll see.

Fifty bucks says I'm right. ;)

People, take a look at the shot with Uhura, her cadet's blazer is on the bed, she is taking off a long sleeve shirt and the room is kind of big.

My guess, Jimmy got the hots for the Orion at Starfleet academy, jumped into the nearest open dorm room door and well, did what Jim Kirk is known for doing. Uncomfortable moment arises when Uhura walks in, they dive under bed and Kirk realizes it is Uhura from the bar scene where he got his arse kicked.

I am sure this scene is not on the Enterprise.

As Kirk sits on his bike and the camera pans upward to show the Enterprise being built, there are some floating reflections as if he is looking through glass, or this is a scene being shown on a monitor - Old Spock looking back in time?

Noticed this too, but I assumed it was that thing vis effects people like to do where they put in lens flares and other 'photography flaws' to make it seem that what you're seeing was actually filmed, not added in on computer.
I was going to say the same thing, but when I rewatch it, the "flares" that happen to the left of Kirk's head looks different than the normal light flares we see. It really does look kind of like a reflection on a monitor.
I'd assumed it was some sort of force field, or dome, covering the construction site, with the lighted towers off to the right side of the screen reflecting off of it. After another viewing, that's what I think it is.

I'm assuming the city in the background and distance is San Francisco...for any number of reasons both canon and conjectural dating back 40 years.

This movie will just be a new starting point. When the second movie -- The Dark Captain -- comes out, that'll be the one that blows everyone away. :p

what do you mean, got his ass kicked? Did Uhura kick his ass?

No, but Sulu and some other cadets beat him up for bothering her at the bar.

BTW, Stag, I think you may be correct.

Not for bothering her at a bar. They ask if he's bothering her and she says yes, but she can handle it. Then they start up with him anyway because they are simply looking for a fight.

So, while it is the 23rd century, young drunk men are still idiots. It's good to know humanity's flaws are still intact.

Just some weird excuse for the shipyard being in Iowa, but perhaps Starfleet names its shipyards after cities. So maybe in the middle of the midwest there are a bunch of shipyards all located near eachother, and they are name like San Francisco Fleet Yards, New York Fleet Yards, London Fleet Yards, etc.

That doesn't really make sense for something that is unmoving. It would be really confusing! I mean, New York Harbor is in New York, not New Orleans.

Oh I know it doesn't, but I just trying to make some way of them having the ship built in Iowa, and still being built in San Francisco Fleet Yards.

i haven't seen this many lens flares in a film since John Carpenter int he 80s. You'd think the 23rd century would have some nice anti-glare coatings on heir gear!

Seriously though-- it's obviously a stylistic choice-- there are flares all over both composite, full cg, and regular film shots.
I'm startin gto think JJ Abrams has a thing for those lens flares. In "Fringe", there are weird blue flares all the time.

Ok those didn't work but I found something that did...anyway I saw the detail of the 1080p trailer...I am just blown away! I am going to record and play the trailer on ET later on my 46" tv.

RAMA

Please tell me people don't still believe the cop is a cyborg or a robot.
I've watched the trailer so many times now and there is absoloutely nothing
to imply that. He's just a guy wearing a highspeed suit and helmet with
what looks like a scanner on one side of his slit visor.
By the way loving the trailer more everytime I see it.
