Official Smallville Season Eight Spoiler Thread

How many times this season are we going to call Tess Miss Tessmacher? I know I am.

I don't think the similarity of the names or how much Cassidy Freeman looks like a young Valerie Perrine are mere coincidences. Its pretty clear that Tess Mercer is an allusion to Eve Tessmacher.

I just keep hoping against hope that at some point before this show ends, Clark gets a visit from three young travelers from 1000 years in the future who want to recruit him to join the group that was inspired by Superman's exploits as a young man . . . .

(actually, you want a TOTALLY kick-ass episode--Lightning Lad, Cosmic Boy and Saturn Girl arrive in Smallville in a glass time-bubble, wearing their traditional uniforms and EXPECTING to find Superboy, a red-haired Lana Lang who would one day join the Legion Reservists as Insect Queen and Clark living with Ma and Pa Kent who still run the Smallville General Store. Takes them a while to sort out they've landed in an alternate reality from their own and perhaps even Clark, with their aid, travels briefly to that alternate reality to get a glimpse of the life of the Silver Age version of himself . . . )

I wouldn't bet the farm on that, Zachary. That wouldn't appeal to the prized teen girl demo. They like their men emasculated, hairless in the chest, and overpowered by itty bitty looking women. Remember? :p

^I never watched it.

I and others would highly recommend

Apokolips...Now! Pt. 1
Apokolips...Now! Pt. 2

at the SDCC they're also going to be giving out Smallville totebags

Well, I'd never expect them to do it. But I'd be all over it to watch it if they did . . .

I would say the chances of seeing the Legion of Superheroes in the series is very, very, very slim.

Ahhhhh, Zachary. If you want to see men kicking ass on CW Thursdays, you have to go with the Winchester brothers. Clark Kent is a lost cause, I suspect. First it was Lana, then Lois, Kara, and now Miss Tess-Macher. It took three times for Miss Bela to get one over on the Winchester brothers before the fans were in open revolt about the characters being written as stupid to conveniently accomodate miss new kick ass chick ordered by the CW brass. She was gone after one season. Wouldn't it have been nice if Smallville's PTB had the same mindset as Eric Kripke?

All I ask for is for the main character of the show to not be written as weak in order to prove that the new "kick ass chick" is powerful herself. By doing so, you mess with an icon.

I have a feeling that will change soon if the Execs at CW get their way.

Ahhh, but the infamous CW suits and the infamous Ostroff already tried that this season with miss kick ass Bela. The fans were having none of it, and the fans won. Warner sees their dollar signs with the huge overseas market SPN has, so the suits are now leaving SPN alone. Kripke was able to fire the kick ass chick "suggested" by the network (he sent her character to hell....BWA HA HA!!!!--if only Lana could go) and added an old grizzled black man to the cast this coming season (X-Files' Steven Williams) in a recurring role instead. Of course that means the CW isn't advertsing Supernatural for shit, but Warner is counting the episodes until it gets that golden number for a nice syndication package--with the writers' strike last season, five seasons will leave them with 104 total.

I don't understand why the Smallville fans couldn't prompt these changes. Smallville is a Warner produced show as well. Why wouldn't Gough and Miller get rid of Lana when everyone hated her? Kripke kicked Bela to the curb fast enough. She made Clark a p-whipped kind of guy.

Damn Jack Bauer! Beat to it about Maxima lol...yeah a character named "Melissa" is taking her place with super-powers and has her eye on Clark according to Kryptonsite. They'll just change the name and keep her the same as Maxima with avoiding using the name, same deal they did with Green Arrow inheriting all of their Bruce Wayne plans.

Smallville is more protected by the suits at Warner Brothers itself and in many respects the producers have no real control over it. They need approval for most everything.

AND internally for licensing, money still changes hands between different departments because they still have to validate their existence before the suits. It's not a happy family.

Episode 4 finally gets its title:

Episode #8-4: "Instinct" October 9, 2008

UPDATED 7/21/08: Both Jimmy and Clark learn about the letter Chloe wrote to Clark way back in the episode "Fever."

From WAY back in Season 2. Whoa... continuity.

"I want to let you in on a secret. I'm not who you think I am. In fact, my disguise is so thin I'm surprised you haven't seen right through me. I'm the girl of your dreams masquerading as your best friend. Sometimes I want to rip off the façade like I did at the spring formal. But I can't because you'll get scared and you'll run away again. So I decided that it's better to live with the lie than expose my true feelings. My dad said there are two types of girls -- the ones you grow out of and the ones you grow into. I really hope I'm the latter. I may not be the one you love today, but I'll let you go for now, hoping one day you'll fly back to me. Because I think you're worth the wait."

Clark and Martha were sick from inhaling kryptonite spores in the cellar. In her grief and worry, Chloe wrote down her feelings for Clark on a pink letter and came over to read it to him. As Chloe checked his temperature he began to regain consciousness and muttered Lana's name, to Chloe's shock and dismay, and she crumpled the letter and threw it in the trash. (at home, I think, because...) Later, Lana found the letter and read it.

Completely in the vein of St Elsewhere... Smallville is fake. It's a trap built by the Time trapper to destroy the legion of Super Heroes. Although, when you really get down to it, for the first couple years, wasn't Clark... Superboy Prime? Has Superboy Prime's rollicking over the last couple years been DC giving Smallville the Bird?
