Official Smallville Season Eight Spoiler Thread

How did Season 7 end anyway? I can't even remember if I caught it or not.

Lex discovered the Fortress and using the device left behind by Jor-El, he rendered Clark powerless and in the process, caused the destruction of the FoS. The final scene was of the two of them being buried under the rubble.

In other news, Chloe was arrested by Homeland Security for being Super-Hacker.

Well, evidently I was wrong on the beard...

LOL on the Lost reference.

"Chloe! We've got to go back!"

That's right. IIRC, the fortress collapsed, right?

^

Yup. Right on top of their heads.

This apparently will lead to Lex being 'missing' and I really don't know where this leaves Clarke. I'm guessing that the Fortress will somehow be rebuilt as the season progresses.

This is more speculation than spoilers, but with MR, KK and LV officially out of the cast, I've been wondering who's going to top billing behind Welling.

Now I know you all are going to say that I'm biased, but after seven seasons and being the only other person than Welling to be with the show since the beginning, Allison Mack should get second banana, followed by Justin Hartley, Durance, Sam Witwer (Doomsday), Cassidy Freeman (Tess) and finally Ashmore.

But knowing CW, they'll want to push the new faces in addition to promoting the fact that this is going to be The Really New Adventures of Lois & Clark, so the cast list will probably go like this:

Tom Welling
Erica Durance
Justin Hartley
Sam Witwer
Cassiday Freeman
Allison Mack
Aaron Ashmore

Just a guess. I'd love to be wrong when September rolls around.

;)

Why Aaron Ashmore in last billing? That spot is usually about as important as second billing, with actors/characters of seniority getting it ("and John Schneider as Jonathon Kent" seasons 1-5, "and John Glover as Lionel Luthor" seasons 6-7). Of course, it would be great for Allison to be acknowledged as female lead, but last billing wouldn't be a bad spot either.

Its only good to be last in the credits when you have a special title to go with it such as "And" or "With". Otherwise, you are the chump at the end of the credits.

For example: Wil Weaton.

Probably because that's where he's at right now, and for some reason, I figured that's how CW will go with it.

Then again, since Millar and Gough are no longer in charge, my guess could be way off, so we'll see.

But yeah, I'd love to see Allison get acknowledged as the series' female lead. As far as I'm concerned, she is.

I also read that the Doomsday "regular guy" character is not going to be a bartender anymore but a paramedic.

I read that too, and I find myself wondering just how a regular looking guy is going to be passed off as 'Doomsday'?

I think the Smallville take on Doomsday is going to be like the Hulk. The dude will get angry and then "Hulk out".

Seeing Doomsday on this show is a bad sign in the first place.

So was having Lois on the show. I usually don't nitpick about things that are supposed to be cannon but, having Clark meet her, while still in Smallville, before he becomes Superman was something that always bothered me.

Well, I didn't mind it when it was a 4 episode guest shot. But when she became a regular and all she did was to be there for comic relief and add nothing to the show, that's when I started to get irritated with it.

I really didn't mind her showing up or becoming a regular. The show has always really been a reimagining so it could do nearly anything. It doesn't have to follow canon. And when we're talking Superman there's like a half dozen or so versions of canon.

The leaked script of the screen tests for Doomsday had, at one point, Doomsday's reaction to waking up the next morning having no memories of the previous night and finding a dead woman next to him. Then again this has been a Smallville cliche since season 3.

So I'm still a little foggy on this... Is he going to Hulk-out and become grey and ugly, or what?

I want to see Lex kill a polar bear with his bare hands.

Okay, maybe using shards from the demolished fortress as weapons.

But kill, skin it, make a three piece suit and eat the rest.

How else is he going to survive?

Sawyer killed a polar bear. Are you saying Lex can't?

pfft...who of us here hasn't had that problem?

er....I mean...

I really had another thought recently - and it would appease the Clark should be Superman by now crowd.

When Lois&Clark was first proposed to ABC years ago the idea was that it would be a Superman series where Superman was discussed but was never seen on camera. What if Superman does reveal himself this season but we never see him on screen? What if he's talked about, his exploits are referred to, but we never actually see Clark in the suit? I think that could be one possibility that they're going for.
