With October being Black History Month it seems fitting for this month's challenge to acknowledge black history and to celebrate the contribution of all the black characters and actors who have worked within Star Trek franchise over the years.

So, this month your challenge is to produce a piece of Trek Art featuring black characters/actors or Trek characters interacting with black historical events. Perhaps, you'd like to depict a black actor you'd love to see work in Trek or design a starship named after a famous black figure. It's up to you.

Here are the rules (from the Art Challenge Guidelines):
  • the artwork you submit should be created during the month of the challenge
  • only one final image can be submitted (although it may contain multiple views)
  • your final entry should be posted in this thread (although dedicated WIP threads are appreciated)

The Deadline for finished entries is midnight 2 November. (But feel free to ask for extra time if you need it)

Have Fun! :bolian:

EDIT: Deadline extended.

Yeah, I was wondering, it's breast cancer and Alzheimer's awareness month here. I thought our glorious Commander in Chief decided to change it lmao

Okay, after thinking about this a bit, I have decided to enter this one.
So here is my entry: It is a Tribute to the legendary William Marshall, as his icon role as Richard Daystrom, and his dream of an artificial Starfleet going boldly where no man could go...

In that case, [Vader]Impressive.[/Vader]
;) As I said, something about this topic made me want to enter, so this was the result. I am a huge fan of William Marshall, From Daystrom to Blacula, that man is an f-ing Legend. He always brought it to whatever he did. And when he passed in 2003, I never got inspired to design a ship for him...so in a way, I needed to do this.

Oh, wow! Thanks for kicking off the contest in such a fantastic way, @Atolm. :bolian:

And sorry about the Black History Month confusion, everyone. I just assumed it would be the same month in the US. :alienblush:

Very nice! I wondered if there'd be a Benny Russell entry. :)

One week left to complete your entries, everyone.
(Yeah, get a move on y'rself, Starscape!)

I once heard somewhere that the vulcan ship in ENT, the pointy one, was kind of inspired by cultural and physical features of the vulcans. I dont know if this was a joke or not. But anyway I choosed to take a similar approach with this design. So here we go....its the U.S.S La Forge.
