Like 4 people die between Mortal Coil and the series end.

-Some unknown dies in "One" when they enter a Nebula.
-2 unknown crewmen die in "Equinox," killed by the aliens. Seven and the Doctor are not even aboard Voyager to attempt a "revival."
-Carey is killed on a planet with no hope of revival.

If we include Lyndsay Ballard that's 5, but I don't know if that takes places before Mortal Coil or after. She also died on a planet or in a shuttle. If there was a candidate for seven's "treatment," it might be the one who died in the nebula, but we don't see them, and can't know. She can't just revive anyone, and only has a short window of time to do it.

The girl that the EMH let die to save Kim died before Seven was on board.

Carey was killed right before transport onto the ship. Also unnamed crew members died in Killing Game, Equinox, Living Witness.

And the one killed in "ONE" happened on the Bridge. Neelix was revived after being dead for many hours, part of the time likely because of looking for the shuttle. That dead Bridge crewman could have been revived since it happened in a matter of minutes and was only a few decks up.

I mentioned Equinox. If it were even possible to revive someone who had been killed by those aliens, it wouldn't matter, as neither Seven or the Doctor were there to

If someone died in the killing game, then Seven was unavailable here as well.

If someone died in Living Witness, and it was accurate, then perhaps they were also revived.

You got me at Carey. I guess he got the shaft.
I mentioned that episode also. Perhaps he or she was revived.

I wonder if in 2019 they’d still do an episode like Retrospect where a woman accuses a man of assaulting her and it turned out her memory was misleading her.

In the lap of squalor I assure you.
That episode was a terrible rape allegory, but yes it was a rape allegory. If that count's, then the Doctor and Janeway did equally bad things to her in The Gift. And those Ferengi in Inside Man and the Doctor in Equinox opening up her brain, and the Doctor in Timeless opening up her dead brain.

Years ago I spent couple hours with a list on a resource website, that does't exist anymore, counting the dead and left. Neelix and Kes left. Most of the Borg Kids left. Kim and Naomi were replaced with duplicates. And then there's a dead list which is just the cast of the West Wing: Lieutenant Commander C.J. Cregg for ####s sake.

Almost 30 died on screen, their death was mentioned (Not counting the 40 plus that died in Caretaker who were unnamed), or they got a girlfriend or turned into a god.

That comparison the what Janeway did to her in The Gift is absurd. The Borg basically had her tied up in their apartment for 20 years, Janeway did not ‘rape’ her by throwing her out of the apartment.

Some abuse victims get attached to their abusers, it doesn’t make it wrong to end the abuse.

In this case, yes it is analogous to rape, only in this case it turned out she was transposing memories from her life as a drone. In 2019 it comes off like an anti-Metoo fantasy. A woman accuses a successful man of abuse because she was remembering it wrong and destroys his life.

Retrospect is essentially what Fox News reports every time an accusation is made.

Seven was mad as hell, about what was done to her in the Gift.

    Stockholm Syndrome.

Although, a Borg drone is practically immortal, and Borg AI is literally immortal.

    They killed her.

Retrospect was the fault of two people,

    primarily, the doctor

secondly, the accused, for acting guilty(not to mention crazy). He may have actually been guilty, and gotten away with it! We don't really find out the truth.

Also, what's the point of living forever if you aren't in control of your thoughts and actions?

Agree the Doctor is more at fault than Seven.

Watching The Killing Game. It’s a better episode than I remember. Problems with the premise are the biggest issue, though execution is strong.

One odd thing, the holodeck is four decks high?!

The Hirogen had Harry add a LOT of holographic emitters to expand the Holodeck. Add that to the explosion with the safeties off, and it made that 4 deck high gap.

I think it's two decks high, but perceptions of distance are probably really skewed while a program is running.

Did that include removing the ceiling?

Another observation, whenever the crew gets reprogrammed to new personalities Kim gets spared.

Coincidence or is that the writers showing their opinion of Wang’s acting?

Once, maybe. But he’s also the only one spared in Workforce, along with Chak, the other underperforming actor. And in Killing Game Chak is reprogrammed but doesn’t show up till halfway through.

Wang said he'd wished he was more involved in The Killing Game with the others. On the holodeck not on the bridge like he was. Not sure if he felt the same way in Workforce.

So it's like a brand new ep.!
I haven't seen some of them (esp. Season 7) since 2001 so I'm sure I'd have the same reaction.

Part of me thinks it’s a cooler interpretation of Living Witness if the backup Doc somehow transferred to the MU and the original record was completely accurate.

I dislike every single one of the mirror universe stories for some reason. I wouldn't have liked this at all. "Living Witness" is one of my favorite episodes.

I haven't fully wrapped my head around the episode. It is an allegory, but I haven't quite figured out for what.
