O'Brien out, Leno back in?

I recorded last nights show and watched it before i left for work this morning and damn that was an awesome such. Robin Williams was great and Barry Manilow sounded good. I usually get annoyed when you have classic musical acts show up and they're promoting a new album so you don't get their biggest hit or whatever, but with Manilow it doesn't really matter what he's singing.

Although I really REALLY hope Neil Diamond is singing Sweet Caroline tomorrow night, would make sense since Conan grew up outside Boston and it's such an iconic song used by the Red Sox when they're at Fenway.

Neil Young is on the show tomorrow not Neil Diamond.

Barry Manilow sounds as great as ever.

I just have this feeling that if you ever met him in person he'd be a jerk.
You know, I have just the opposite impression. I've always felt that Barry Manilow is one of the true genuinely gracious celebrities out there. Whenever you see him interact with anybody, he just always seems so open and caring - like on the show where he made a point of telling us just how much Conan's staff loves him. He didn't have to do that. He just wanted to say something nice about Conan. I'll take that kind of endorsement over Williams' kind (although admittedly funny) any day.

I understand the above comment about Barry seeming like he had Parkinson's. Truthfully, he's always been a little haphazard in his movement and expression. I think it is simply age that is intensifying that impression. He'll be 67 this year, after all. :)

I agree about Manilow, I hate his music, but he seemed incredibly nice and grounded for a guy who's had such a tremendously successful career.

Okay, seriously, no offence to anyone, but people actually believe these bits Conan is putting on!?! Read the comments to this poorly written CNN blurb that implies Conan is really spending this money;

http://marquee.blogs.cnn.com/2010/0...s-goes-for-conans-last-shows-on-nbc/?hpt=Sbin

People...morons...Conan did not spend over $4 million on a 30 second sketch last night, nor $1.5 million the night before. He's getting the amounts from the actual value of the car and the horse...it's not like he's actually buying them, though. I can't believe this needs to be explained.

They are...jokes.

On a late night comedy show...go figure.

^I'm sure that for the most part, you're completely right. It does make one wonder, however, why NBC would cut the car/mouse sketch out of the Hulu version if it wouldn't cost them money to allow it to stream online.

But yeah, I don't really buy that Conan has ZERO limits on what he can spend for his show, whether he's being cancelled or not.

Well, I'm sure the Stones music does cost money. But it's not like the sketch cost anywhere near $1.5 million. Not even a 10th of that.

Or NBC (or even Conan's people, for that matter) cut it out on purpose to make it seem real, and hence even funnier.

The sad thing is I could see NBC really buying the thnigs just because they are so fucking stupid they didn't bother to check.

TMZ
conan o'brien just finished taping his final episode of "the tonight show" -- and between the jokes, audience members described the scene as "somber."

we're told that during the commercial breaks, crew members were saying goodbye to each other. Conan closed the show by playing guitar with will ferrell -- they performed "free bird" by lynyrd skynyrd.

There was a surprise guest -- we won't ruin it for you, but he's on an nbc show that's really very funny.
So that narrows it down to like three.
