O'Brien out, Leno back in?

I recall the occasional Letterman/O'Brien cameo crossovers of the mid-90s. They were possible because their shows were on two different times but a couple blocks apart, and each crossover was always a surprise.
They were always a fun and enjoyable hoot.
Leno really isn't the main villain in all of this. Zucker and his cronies are the morons at play here. That being said, Leno isn't doing anything to help the problem and is coming off looking bad.
How about 2Nite 2Show?
Are you kidding me? That would be the worst thing he could do. Wait until after Conan leaves before saying "Oh, I don't want the Tonight Show," suggesting that the last two weeks could have been completely avoided and Conan could still have his job.
You know...I actually had a dream about that the other night? I was reading about the Leno/Conan stuff here on the BBS before bed. I went to bed and dreamed that it was announced that Carson Daly took over the show. I then tried to come to log on to the TBBS to see the utter shitstorm that would be bound to happen, but kept being prevented to log on. Needless to say, it was strange.
Well, Conan was Jay's last guest...
My new hard drive is one gigabyte!! I'm never going to be able to fill all that up!

Well, Jay pleaded his case (I'm watching all late night talk shows until Conan goes off the air). You could hear how Jay rationalized it and rounded it in his favor, enough where that video of him passing on the show to Conan back in 2004 would be enough to bite him in the butt. The way Jay was playing it, it all fell on the network and that Jay was just the hapless guy caught in the middle. While I'm sure that happened to some extent, Jay can't fool me and I don't think he can fool everyone else. He definitely had a voice in all of this.

Exactly. It was his choice to make. Jay's not ignorant, and he's not a fresh face to the whole show business game. He made it seem like a wide eyed, innocent "Oh, okay, if Conan leaves sure!". Jay's smarter than that. I think he saw the perfect opportunity to return, even at the expense of Conan, and took it. Come on, he made excuses for NBC about Conan's ratings, knowing FULL WELL that his own ratings in 1993 were terrible, when he was first starting. He knows this. He knows better, and that's what makes him an ass in this situation.

Watch how the audience starts laughing when Leno, in his story, after Conan doesn't want to go to 12:05, he gets to the "*sigh* ...yeah I'll take the show back" bit, like it was some tough decision. There's no joke there, no reason for the audience to laugh - they clearly aren't buying it either.

Last night, they reran the Jimmy Kimmel where he does Leno the whole show. His Leno is funnier than the real one, and actually funnier than Jimmy Kimmel himself.
Letterman mocking Dick Ebersol was amusing. "We knew him in the 70's working at NBC, he was a guy then, he's been a guy and he's still a guy now." (Or something)
