NuTrek sequels - 24th century villains?

Yes-I agree. Klingons are so iconic----but they should probably move on.
I would love to see an updated Gorn. Love it! Or some other TOS alien that was loosely explored and poorly concieved on screen due to budget and F/X limitatations. How about the Horta? Those little plant/puppet/wiggly dudes? Andorians--sure. The "Giants" from that season one ep. where the shuttle is broke and Spoke wants to leave without burying people.
But, in the end, I would suggest they couple one of these old aliens with an entirely new one. Boldly go----strange new worlds etc.
The Gorn would potentially be interesting as aggressor as the Federation might be percieved as weak by surrounding empires (and the Klingons and Romulans are too buys beating the stuffing out fo each other).
Or possibly the Enigmatic Tholians, who tended to be capricious territory takers...and let's face it. the Tholains on the big screen would look cool
Yes, absolutely. I forgot to mention the Tholians. Are they a crystalline-based species, or they just wear some kind of armor? There was mention of the Tholians on DS9 (Tholian silk, Tholian ambassador), but they haven't made any appearance since TOS.
The Tholians appeared in ENT's "Future Tense" and "In a Mirror, Darkly Part I". In the former we only see their ships. I'm not saying your argument is not valid, but with all due respect, one's criticism is only good if he/she provides ideas for improvements. For example, if an employer was writing a performance evaluation, he/she couldn't just say, "Employee X is really bad and he sucks." Instead, it's more constructive to say, "Employee X needs to work harder, be on time, and follow instructions." In other words, be specific.
You mentioned the villains should be TOS-related. By that, I assume you were referring to all TOS aliens (Andorians, Gorn, Orions), which posters already made references to in this thread. It's also been established that most people wouldn't prefer the Borg, Klingons, or Romulans.

Thanks. I googled the image. I stopped watching ENT after Season 1, so I didn't see that episode. It appears they made the Tholians arachnid in appearance (with eight limbs all together). I suppose it makes sense, giving reference to the Tholian "web" that their ships are known to produce.
I have also wondered if the Gorn would make effective villians for the next film. I think our view of them would change an awful lot frankly. The Gorn we saw in "Arena" was awkward and somewhat laughable. I think it would be great to play on people's instinctual fear of reptiles and bring the Gorn into the picture.
But looked a hell of a lot more realistic than the Gord we saw on Enterprise.
Because? She was never given a human-centric name or had her species mentioned, so there's nothing precluding it.
I've got no problem with accepting criticism, and it helps you improve on your ideas. But it would be nice if it included some details instead of just saying "that sucks" or "lost me right there."

Hey that's fine. I dig most of what you post generally, but suggesting Number One be a Betazoid invokes a purely gutteral objection in me - it's not something I can even pretend to be creative about.
I must agree betazoids are not that interesting, as I feel the issue ofa Full blown race of human teeps was not handled well by TNG.

I'm sorry that I didn't fall all over your Betazoid story idea but you shouldn't take it personally. As far as sharing my criticism, I think I go out of my way to provide detailed reasons as to what I do and do not like about any television episode or films that I choose to comment about on this board.
I don't think I've ever just given a score or a one-liner. As for your story I really didn't have much to specifically criticize because the overall idea just didn't work for me so there really wasn't anything beyond that to comment on.
Eh, human telepathy has already been dealt with very well by Babylon 5. I wouldn't be that interested in it if Trek did it unless they find a completely new approach.
Like, for example, having human telepathy be the result of cybernetics.

Not really. The majority of people who will be watching the film will not know of them, and they have never featured in a Trek film before. It's a chance to have a different twist on them which would make it original.
