Why not, if the price was right. Shatner does a lot of voice work.
Agreed - if the money was right I am sure most of the TOS crew would come back. That being said - I don't think there would much interest in bringing TOS crew back. I see having an animated nuTrek crew series with the current actors voicing their parts - if the money was right being a better option. In between the major motion pictures, I would think that they could voice their roles for a whole season in a pretty short amount of time which would also be appealing.
A nuTrek series in the style of the Abramsverse would make me heave. In the least I wouldn't watch---not hard since I watch practically zero network television anymore.
Agreed. I was thinking of actor/comedian Kevin Pollak imitating Captain Kirk.

That's true, but I believe Kevin Pollak could tone it down and do a more accurate version of Captain Kirk for a new TAS if he was being considered for the part.

I would suspect Shatner would ask for exactly what he wanted and they could take it or leave it. He's not hurting for work, and Trek is a long, long way from being his only--or even, I suspect, his favorite--meal ticket.
I'm sure at this point Paramount could easily "synth-create" his voice using whatever syllables they have through all his audio recordings through all the years... kind of like what The Simpsons producers threatened to do years ago to that series' main cast.

I wouldn't watch it, either. I finally saw the nuTrek movie on TV, and the kindest adjective I can come up with for it is "ridiculous". The worst adjectives I can come up with can't be used on this forum.
Well, in all likelihood, they wouldn't be making it for us. I don't know how old all of you are, but I no longer fit into the 18-49 demographic age group - the ones that TV apparently crawls over broken glass to cater to (though I don't know why because I/we think I have more disposable income). That being said, my three children do fit into that age group, as do their friends - and they thought that the new movie was great.
I still fit into the Sacred Demographic, but only until next June, when I turn 50 (and can access the seniors' discounts some places offer). But I've been a Star Trek fan since I was 12, and have noted that many of the wonderful shows and movies I grew up with have been "rebooted" or "reimagined" for a younger audience - as if the originals weren't good enough! Hello, Hollywood - that's why they're called classics - they don't *need* remaking!

You can't do Star Trek with him and not include Nimoy... and his voice is very noticeably creaky these days, and in the movie I noticed he had difficulty pronouncing some of his words. A new animated series wouldn't work unless the characters were also as old as their portrayers.
And of course, Deforest Kelley has been gone for many years, as has James Doohan.

They should just take the existing TAS voice tracks and do all-new CGI animations of the show. No need to hire new voice actors!
It's an old debate. For me it's mostly not that it was rebooted (which was pretty much inevitable), but the end result that came out of the process. I disliked practically everything they did with it. I simply feel they got it wrong, wrong, wrong and I've zero interest to see anymore of it.
We're already getting more than enough of Kirk as a punk. No more Pine/nuKirk, please, outside of that.

I'd love to hear Shatner voice Kirk again. I'd take him as TOS Kirk, I'd take him as NuKirk, I'd take him as OLD Kirk in either the TOS universe or the JJverse. His voice still gives me the thrills (I was swooning over that Priceline ad I posted in another thread) and I'd be super happy to hear William Shatner as KIRK, any damn KIRK one more time.
