Now that it's legal...(pics)

That's funny :D :D

In one of my other scifi-favourits, 'Raumpatrouille Orion', they used flat-irons for the FTL-drive controls :D
 I was about to post the same! Here it is, for everyone who doesn't believe it.

Should we embarrass that pre-Trek gem even more by mentioning the bathroom fixtures that were used for the bridge-controls? :D

"Argh! Stupid flrefly!"

JJ Abrams aggravates yet another group of fans.
I don't like it either. They should have gone with something similar to the original TV series. South Park joke: :p

Huh...weird.

I always love finding movie props in the real world.

My new theory: they are projectors for the viewscreen.
Here are recycled parts from the Porsche 924. Just kidding. ;)

EVEN WORSE.--- IS THAT DUCT TAPE ON THE CONSOLE NEAR CHEKOV?!

DUCT

TAPE?!

I MEAN

DUCT

TAPE?!

Why not duct tape? Duct tape is quite possibly the pinnacle of humanity's inventiveness. Duct tape is awesome. It can fix anything. It sticks to anything. Water, dirt, antimatter, you name it. I would imagine that a guy like Scotty would have rolls of duct tape scattered all over the Enterprise to address virtually any kind of shipboard emergency. I'm sure it was there in TOS in that little cabinet in Engineering where he kept that three-pronged doo-hickey that he used to analyze the flow of the whatsis. He probably just left that roll on the bridge. There are probably huge cross-sections of the hull of the Big-E that were held together with duct tape after various space battles. So don't hate on the tape.

I dont think this is in the corridor run scene, but on the official site its a nice little nod to jefferies.

In the corridors in The Cage and TOS, there are segmental divides every few feet along the stretch of the corridor, they seem to have incorporated those same divides in the corridors, at least on the official site.

Theyre the same shape as the TOS ones, slightly narrower than the actual corridor.:techman:

The collar on the shirt under his jacket looks similar!

But actually, I think the general shape of the face is similar, and the features are mostly the same, except for the trademark McCoy eyebrows, and his nose is a little off. But nothing too big as I think he'll be arching that eyebrow plenty.

Urban seems to be the perfect McCoy, I thought so from the start, and I'm even more sure now.

The ones on the back 'hostess' stations there are also symbol barcode scanners similar to the LS 1900 line (they acually look like the ones from 2004) , i have installed a few of them at my work. For years i would always joke arond with my co-worker about them looking like star trek phasers.

Anybody else notice that this alien "creature" threatening Kirk (before he seduces it, no doubt) looks alot like something out of "Cloverfield"? JJ was probably working on BOTH films at the same time, at some point. Just a thought...

[If you're going to comment only on the last image out of several, it's better to edit out the others, rather than to quote the entire lengthy post, only to add one or two short sentences. I've fixed this for you here. - M']

In the article with JJ's trailer commentary he flat out says that they were designed by the same guy.

The second I saw this shot of McCoy from XI, this shot of McCoy from VI came to mind.

When I first saw the trailer, I thought, "My God, why does McCoy look like some crazed madman?" Then I thought of Deforest Kelly (God rest his soul), and thought, "Oh yeah." ;)

I hate to say it, but I just don't see the resemblence. To me he looks like a crazed Gary Mitchell.
A crazed Gary Mitchell would have glowing, silver eyes.

$150 million, and they gotta go with a barcode scanner for vectoring nacelles? :vulcan:
You do realize that those Symbol barcode scanners cost $400 a piece.

Check out Symbol's trademark slogan. Maybe that's how the prop designers stumbled upon those barcode scanners.

Heh, that's one possibility, though there are others I could think of which are as likely. I'm thinking those folding-arm lamps on the helm and nav desks are another candidate for getting their manufacturer's name in the "Additional equipment/tech provided by:" credits at the end of the movie.

It also occurs to me that the roll of tape seen on the center of the desk in that shot might figure in-story as what's wrapped around Kirk's left hand in the other bridge shot with him seated in the Captain's chair.
