Not liking it

We just watched "Battleground" or whatever it's called last time around, and it's kind of ironic that such an otherwise unmemorable episode is responsible for one of the most significant arcs that will run through the series.

I've been thinking about this, and I've decided that if that episode had come much later in the series (granted, the 'first contact from the GQ' aspect would need to be retooled), it might have been received better.

As it is you have a bunch of characters you're just getting to know who are already being placed in an undignified situation that makes them hard to take seriously.

TNG had episodes like this as well, but I think they did a better job of avoiding putting their characters through silly hoops until we'd gotten to know them better.

Actually, having an episode like this shortly after Eddington joined the crew might have been ideal.

Unless you count The Naked Now, TNG very first ep after the pilot. :nyah:
