Spoilers NO SPOILERS FOR CODA - A Lit-verse Grand Finale...What We Know (Spoilers for Entire Lit-verse)

:guffaw:

Just hope they don't have to change that to Tamala "Got A Memory Beta Page Only To Have CaptainMike Have A Hissy Fit And Delete It" Harstead...
I'm pretty sure any page that isn't spam or vandalism needs to have a deletion discussion before it can be deleted. Even Captainmike won't break that rule.

Actually, it's the opposite problem with Captainmike. Pages that should be deleted or merged can languish for months or even years before an action is taken, even if everyone is in agreement.

I haven't caught up to the retcon that explains it yet, but yeah, in Indistinguishable from Magic, Geordi has broken up with Tamala "Took Her Nine Years to Get a Memory Beta Page" Harstead and begins a relationship with Leah, but in Silent Weapons, he's still dating Tamala with no mention of Leah.

It's cleared up (for certain values of "cleared up") at the beginning of The Light Fantastic, in such a way as to suggest Geordi is logically in an open relationship with Tamala and didn't realize it because she'd never told him they were exclusive whenever he left the ship for a bit, so Leah thinks it's perfectly find that they keep hooking up whenever they run into each other while he's having a more regular relationship with a coworker when he's on the Enterprise.

I'm just glad the Enterprise-D didn't live to see its Cyrano gambit backfire so spectacularly, as they always must. C'mon, "I'm with you every day, Geordi. Every time you look at this engine, you're looking at me. Every time you touch it, it's me"? That's totally the ship expressing its forbidden human emotions through the only medium of self-expression it has, holodeck characters.

Well, at least she survived the first book. I can't say that for a lot of the Enterprise-E crew.
Are we already doing spoilers for Coda in here? Because, if so, gotta go.

Something I observed on Twitter the other day:

I'm reading Coda and listening to the audiobook of the Picard prequel novel The Last Best Hope, and the experience kinda feels like sitting through that fan edit of The Shining that runs the film forward and backwards at the same time.

why didn't someone just write a Memory Beta page for her?

Long story short: Many likely did, but Memory Beta being Memory Beta, it was constantly deleted.
that's absolutely not true. the history of the article is readily available, no one created it. why would you make up a story about a wiki article being deleted when no such thing happened?

:guffaw:The Memory Beta complaint saga just took a hilarious turn!
i could take the "Memory Beta being Memory Beta" snark above as being congratulatory of the hard work put in there, after all -- we do end up deleting a lot of articles that are violations of policy (like plagiarism) and are just plain wrong - but even bad writing we'd prefer to mark as needing attention and not delete.

i think a reality check is needed
