Oh, thanks for bursting that bubble.![]()
I don't think anyone's saying Christmas Day isn't a valuable slot, just that getting a New Year's special instead of a Christmas one isn't a big deal.Look, if the Christmas Special isn’t a valuable slot, why does any show want it?
What are you talking about? We have a title (Resolution) and we have this nearly a minute long trailer:And we are less than a month from this special and the hype machine has given us nothing. A scarf and a second of a Matt Smith era speech in the mouth of Jodie.
If Christmas isn’t an important slot why did Moffat and Capaldi drag themselves through one more show for it?
And that trailer was played at the end of the season finale, so...I don't think anyone's saying Christmas Day isn't a valuable slot, just that getting a New Year's special instead of a Christmas one isn't a big deal.

Because they are employees and the BBC wanted a Christmas special?

Your ignorance isn't their fault, especially when the trailer is played after the finale.Well, I hadn’t seen the trailer.
That’s....
Not how it’s reported as happening.
Man, I'm still fuming over this. Fucking BBC, man.
At least we get 13 episodes, right? Wait... no, we don't!!!
BBC sure knows how to destroy momentum. They shouldn't have taken a year off with Capaldi, and taking a year off kills all the noise made for Whitaker.

As for Christmas vs New Year, a lot of this year's festive content is moved to Boxing Day or New Year, especially the more serious drama. It seems that Christmas Day is seen more as the place for softer, comedy offerings like Mrs Brown's Boys or Michael MacIntyre. It certainly isn't worse being on New Year's Day.
