No Merlin thread?

i actually said 'holy shit!' when Lancelot stepped into the vail. viel. the black swirly special effect thing.

Yeah, wasn't really expecting that. Guess he'll be back at some point, some how, probably for his regulation episode or two parter next year.

Wow!

The words game and changer spring to mind.

I mean I think we all knew it was going to happen eventually but this was a bit out of the blue. Still least Uther got a hell of a send off, what a great sword fight!

Colin Morgan continues to be funny as hell as an old man, just all the little ticks and mannerisms...and the whole peeing conversation was hilarious.

Seriously though Arthur, how dumb are you!

I loved that Morgana actually seemed upset that her plan had worked. I thought that was a lovely touch.

Frankly the only misstep was Gwen. She should have been there for Arthur but, unfortunately, it's like they just don't know what to do with the character. She's just there.

Anyway, great episode, lovely balance between great comedy and tragedy.

The King is dead...long live the King!

I was expecting Uther to live and eventually die at the end of this series, setting Arthur up as King next series, with Merlin having made an in-road for magic in the kingdom. So I was surprised it ended how it did. Though I'm already sick of Agravaine and the evil adviser stuff.

This series has been much better than the previous ones. No stupid enchantment filler stories, no goblins etc. However last night's plot was as creaky as an old ship. You could see what was coming from half way through the show so although all the incidentals were very good, the whole was a complete let down.

Why are we both up at this time on a Sunday morning? I'll try hailing you on the other place but I don't think it's working yet.

i love Merlin kicking Arthur during the piggy-back. for what should surely have been a sad episode i spent a lot of time lol'ing...

i didn't understand why Gaius and Merline didn't just show Arthur the necklace and say, 'dude it's been enchanted, we've got a traitor in the castle!'

Yeah, that's the usual plot stupidity.

We're only 3 episodes in so that's not saying much.

Well I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Guy has a point about Arthur being a dumb blonde up until now. He's going to have to up his game if we're going to see anything like a legendary king. There's only so much Merlin can do.

That was dumb, even if it is aimed at a younger audience. As viewers we were privy to Morganas plan all along, and it went as planned exactly as we'd been told it would with no twist whatsoever. Unbelievable shoddy writing.

ER don't people get that the twist was the fact that Morgana's plan did work!

Seriously Merlin has his the reset button plenty of times already, and surely most people watching would have thought, "Ah they'll notice the medallion and save Uther, just like they always do."

But they didn't.

For a show like Merlin that was a big bloody twist!

As for the medallion, well In suspect Arthur would have just imagined older Merlin put it on there...and either way Uther died cos of magic.

Only a twist in so far as it went against expectation, but seriously, since when did there have to be a twist for it to be considered well written?

there doesn't have to be a twist for it to be well written.

i for one liked the fact that Uther seemed to be recovering a bit, remembering and enjoying his son's birthday, before being cruelly struck down. it was good drama. and then having hm seem to recover before dying was touching, i thought.

Exactly. If Gaius tells Arthur that they found an enchanted amulet on Uther that resulted in his death it would just prove to Arthur that Old Merlin killed Uther. At least for now Arthur is conflicted on whether Old Merlin intentionally killed Uther. Withholding the information from Arthur is the best choice in a bad situation.

As for the episode itself, I was expecting a standard 3rd episode filler. I was quite surprised to say the least. I'm very sorry to lose the best character on the show, but it's nice to see the writers finally messing with the status quo.

I just find it weird that few to none of the magic users in this universe can recognise other magic users or magical items even if they're seething in magic.

It's been a year since merlin and Morganna have had a face to face.

He's more powerful

She's more sensitive.

Surely space and time and curve and fear in the wake of his shadow?

It's fricking Merlin for fracks sake.

It's like when we were young, and we'd be friends with a girl, buds, butt hen she'd come back after th summer break with boobies.

That's how Morganna should react to seeing Merlin next because of the magic frothing in and out of him.

I was expecting Merlin to sense the amulet, but only after he had already administered the cure to Uther. What I really want to know is how Gaius determined the amulet was enchanted. What's that old man hiding?
