Niners Unite...around Babylon 5!

Not a huge surprise, considering he was a chronic chain smoker and had been suffering from lung cancer (I think, maybe).

But nevertheless, a great sorrow and a huge loss to the profession. The man was one of the finest actors I've ever seen, especially under the torture of prosthetics. He will be greatly missed. :(

On a more selfish note, it's one more count against any possibility of more Babylon 5 in the future.

I was thinking ... do you guys want to wear G'Kar or Katsulas avatars? Like people did when Michael Piller passed away? I know it's just a little gesture, but still. :(

Sure, I need a new av anyway; but let's keep the "Not Dead" joke far, far away from this, okay? I can't think of any possible way it could be tastefully included.

Definately! :)

Anyone know where I can get some good G'Kar pictures/screencaps. Are there any B5 screencap sites even out there?

A quick google turned up very little... :(

"But I...can forgive you..."

Thank you, Andreas, for your years of wonderful work. You will be missed.

[ EDIT ADDED BY VASH: Following the link below will cause you to be exposed to several B5 spoilers in the form of pictures! Follow this link at your own risk! ]

There are some great avatars at this site.

I like this idea alot.

Do we want to all use the same one, or different ones?

This is very, very sad. :(

Actually, just the other day I was wondering how he was, and if he would unfortunately pass on during this marathon, given that it will last over a year.

What a bummer though. :(

Yep, that is a good site.

However, Llanita and any other newbies might not wanna go there, as there are a fair number of spoilers in those avatars. ;)

If you don't mind, Jan, I'm gonna edit your post to reflect that, so that the newbies can make an informed decision about whether to go or not. ;)

Feel free, Vash, and thanks for thinking of that. It's been a while since I looked at them in detail and I understand that there have been additions, too.

Thanks,
Jan

Thanks for your cooperation! :)

And thanks also for the link! Some really good avatars there!

As you can see, I'm using one of them myself!

A good tribute to Andreas.

So sad to hear that Andy K has died, if not entirely unexpected. Rest in peace, Mr. Katsulas :(

I've been lurking in this thread since the beginning, and over the last few days I've been trying to catch up to you guys on my second run-through of B5, although I haven't done a good job of it so far - I'm only up to "Infection". Tonight there's wayyy too much broadcast tv on - pretty much the only night I do watch broadcast - but tomorrow I'll really start trying to catch up, and I'll try not to let TrekBBS, PlayStation, other DVDs and reading stand in the way of my B5 watching

What awful news. :(

It's going to make watching the rest of the series...difficult. It's been enough of a jolt to see Richard Biggs in various episodes, but G'Kar is my favourite character in all SF and Andreas Katsulas' magnificent portrayal is a goodly part of that.

Requiescat in pace. :(

One of the very few actors that made that big boy shed a tear. He mastered his voice as much as a Patrick Stewart or a Ian McKellen (the few scenes he had with Patrick Stewart in TNG were a delight).

He will be missed.

Welcome to the group! :) Glad you stopped lurking and decided to join us!

You aren't really that far behind - you can catch up pretty easily!
