:D :D :D

Thank you so much, Vash, for starting this! :)

Posted by Vash: But if we do it, I get to do Londo. Or Delenn. :p
Posted by Evil Twin: Oh, and can I call Vir? :D
Posted by SB: Okay, Vash - G'Kar it is. :D
Grrr, all my favourites are taken, it seems ;)

Hey! I've been left behind. We UK Fivers have to sleep you know... ;)
And this Austrian here too
Won't be able to watch the first ep and read this thread until tonight :(

This is going to be so much fun! :D

You people will be awake while the rest of us are asleep. It'll all work out in the end. :D

I think I'm gonna join this whole B5 marathon thingy. I don't think I'm gonna start watching it until saturday though. So it might take me a few days to catch up. :)

<- *Whistles innocently*

Mwahahaha .. no one has taken Sheridan or Marcus yet  ... okay .. they don't come around for a while either :D

Guess I'll have to start watching some stuff then ;)

Actually, I expressed an interest in Sheridan, but his role is so important that I think more than one person could easily take on his character. :)

I didn't want to read any spoilers ... :o :p

This sounds like a great way to watch the series. I'd like to join, please, and have my 'focus character' as Delenn.

I'll rewatch the Gathering and Midnight to catch up on this.

Yes.

Heh, I could take Kosh! Just kidding ;)

Johi, you can take a character that is already taken if you like. The object of doing that was just to get different people's (and characters) perspective on the events, just to make the conversation more interesting. :)

Or you could do Kosh...or the Vorlons in general.

Up to you! :)

Blade Runner, yeah...you can do Sheridan if you like (I saw your post earlier - thanks for the spoiler code)! And certainly more than one person can do him too, since he's a bit pivitol and all that! ;)

And AA, cool new avatar!!! :D

Thanks :)

The problem is that I usually really suck at writing analyses about characters, etc - so I rather read what you and the others write first, this will hopefully improve my writing skills :D

So please don't expect too much from me at first (I guess "oooh, G'Kar was so cute in this episode" doesn't count as interesting conversation?) ;)

Is it evening yet? Can I go home from work now and finally watch the first episode?

^ Johi36 - I know what you mean. I'm not always great at putting my thoughts/feelings in to words either, but I'm getting better. Hopefully this discussion will help us both. ;)

Inspired by AA's new av, how about we all have B5 inspired av's for a while? Just a thought.

Hello, old friend. :)

Good idea! I think I'll use a Vir avatar and keep updating it with each of his subsequent appearances as we go along.

Anyway, I just got done with "Midnight on the Firing Line", so here's a few random thoughts:

- One thing that strikes me between this and "The Gathering" is the lighting. The pilot's darker lighting scheme gave it a much more cinematic feel than here.

- Ivanova sure comes across as very stiff and cold in the beginning. Her braid here is very sexy though. Too bad it largely disappears after first season. Her scene with Talia in the bar is probably the best part of the episode.

- I'm amazed at just how much they were able to cram into 45 minutes here. It's a very busy episode!

- As someone mentioned earlier the dialogue is pretty cheesy and exposition-heavy.

- The raiders, here and in future appearances, have always struck me as being rather flimsy and lame. They exist solely as a plot point and an excuse to use the Starfuries.

- As for my assignment, Vir, the first time I saw this I pretty much dismissed him stupid, bumbling comic relief. It's only when Londo begins his fall into darkness that Vir begins to stand on his own, becoming much more interesting, an integral part of Londo's storyline, and ultimately one of my favorite characters by the end of the series!

I haven't started watching it yet, but I just want to add my voice to this. There were more than a few times on my first run-through that I looked at the timer on the DVD player and was amazed that the episode was only at the halfway point because it just seemed like it was a lot longer with all that was going on.

Except for the first half of season 5. That didn't seem as long. :p

I think I'll have to hold my av back until we start season 2 because the character doesn't appear in season 1 and I don't want to spoil things for people.

That's what's known as the 'Babylon 5 time dilation bubble'. It comes from editing the episodes incredibly tightly. When one looks at the scripts, you see where sometimes a couple of words were edited that weren't strictly necessary to the story. Every second had to serve the story or be a character moment or out it went.

Thanks Vash ... I won an Av contest with it some time ago :D

People will just have to block my av :p :p
