Nicholas Meyer Confirms Upcoming 4K UHD Release Plans for STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN

The always online stuff that Microsoft floated a few years ago is included in the specs. There are suppose to be certificates that the player downloads for each disc before it will play them.
Not any use offline then...

I would have been happier with this new BD if it hadn't lines deleted and scenes replaced!
Can't you watch the theatrical version also included on the disc then? I mean, isn't that the entire point of having both versions in one set?

Two Best Buys, two Targets and not a single one of them carried the Blu-Ray. What the fudge?

Seems like they underestimated demand. Amazon's sold out too. My order is scheduled end of next week.

Welcome to the digital age. I've had decent luck at the Greensboro and Winston Best Buys but it's not anything like it used to be. Lots of empty space in both stores.

The theatrical version also has the scene error, proving it's not a Directors choice but a simple screw up in editing.

Should be fixed, but I doubt Paramount will do it.

OK. Yeah, I find it unlikely they can fix them now. I'll settle for a free digital copy of the film;). One should have been included anyway....

Well don't let that stop anyone. If anyone has bought the Blu-Ray, I encourage you to let Paramount know about this.

Absolutely. If you feel this is is a mistake that negatively affects the product return it / don't buy it and tell Paramount why. For me, a couple seconds of background imagery isn't going to cross that line considering the supposed quality of the rest of the disc.

Yeah, I am supremely disappointed. I was going to waltz into a brick-and-mortar store today and pick up my shiny new copy of the TWOK-DE on blu ray disc, but noooo...

I wonder if there was something about having the Kobayashi Maru's specs on screen that Meyer no longer likes for some reason?

It should be possible to change alter that viewscreen graphic, without it affecting Sulu's turning and directing his suggestion to Savvik though.

I think it's a cock-up basically. The same shot repeated within a few seconds for no reason other than an editor accidentally duplicated one video element in the timeline and didn't notice where they'd dragged and dropped it to. Pure fluke it ended up where it kind of still works, unless you're a fan and know every last inch of the film.

I felt the same way when I went out today. I went to a Best Buy and Target and they didn't even have them and you had to get them online. And they wonder why the retail mall industry is dying. Also, I was disappointed to learn that there was not going to be a digital copy.

I'm just glad that the long-deleted Sulu ventriloquism subplot has been restored to the film at long last.

Come off it. We all know this--like the "Sulu promotion" scene deletion was a plot by Shatner to reduce Takei face-time.
Now we do not see Sulu's face from either angle. The tech who Shatner paid started to get greedy and therefore the other places where they were going to cut him out--ended up remaining.
"So much for the little training cruise."---was next on the hit list.

I heard that George Takei stopped by the editing room while they were working on the TWOK BluRay. He was overheard to say, "We're not going to make it, are we?"
