Nicholas Meyer Confirms Upcoming 4K UHD Release Plans for STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN

Kirk: That young man is my son!
Spock: Fascinating!

Ah, yes... from what I remember, Nimoy's reading of the line seemed a bit odd.
But I could be remembering wrong.
You're not wrong. Spock could not sound more bored or sarcastic there. I'm sure that if it had been kept in the theatrical cut, they would have had Nimoy redub it.

I don't remember those lines being in any home video edition of TWOK until the Director's Edition DVD, and it kind of seemed like padding to me. We already get plenty of other indications that David is Kirk's son.
Yes, but this would have been the first time that Spock was hearing it.

Well, this is interesting. I ordered this with a couple other things I needed for free shipping. After missing a couple shipping dates I emailed Amazon to ask what was up. I got a reply in less than half an hour saying there was a glitch with one of the items in my order, they fixed the glitch and upgraded my shipping for free.

This is where it gets weird.

The email says shipping is taking place today and is upgraded to get the items to me sooner, but to expect them for June 15th, which is just about the slowest shipping I've ever seen from Amazon. And it goes on to say if I don't receive the order by June 13 (2 days before the 15th?) to send another email.

Then in my order page it now says two of the three items I ordered are set for arrival at my house today, but set for shipping tomorrow, and the Khan blu ray is set for shipping next wed, which is the 15th, the latest CS days I should be waiting.

Weird.

I'm not in a hurry, I don't mind waiting, but it seems like something is glitching out somewhere.

Call Amazon customer service- they are very easy to work with and can look at things from their side and clarify what is going on.
Might not be the case, but I have found that sometimes buying through Amazon but shipping from third parties causes some weird status postings.

They've already dealt with everything now. Seems that there was a second technical glitch. They had me reorder with free one day shipping so it should be in tomorrow.

I've always found their customer service to be excellent.

Either way, the problem remains. The good thing is that they are apparently working on it.
Great... so should I order this one, or wait until they do a corrected version? And when should we expect to get the fixed one?

Are they going to provide digital downloads? 'Cause I have a UHD screen on my laptop, but no blu-ray drive.

Well, I could always buy it, and then wait for someone else to rip and post it on a torrent site and download from there. I've done that kind of thing before.

There's plenty of freeware out there for you to rip it yourself as well.

I agree, it's odd it doesn't include a digital copy. This is the only Blu Ray I've purchased without one, it's a rule for me.

Edit: I am not advocating ripping it and putting it on a torrent site, I am suggesting making his own legal, digital back up instead of torrenting it.

I don't have a blu-ray drive to read the disc. The only reason I'd buy this is so my conscience is clear when I find an online source to download from--the disc itself would be a paperweight.

So I have the special features playing in the background while I work and there's some interesting stuff here, but some of it I'm not sure if it's serious or not. Like how Shatner is saying that he came up for the idea for Spock's death, and thought that it should happen behind a translucent door so all you saw of Spock was his outline and the camera focused on Shatner. I can't tell if he's joking or not as it seems like a Shatner thing to try for but a lot of the other stuff he says in the interview (an old one on previous sets that isn't on my particular DVD) is definitely tongue in cheek and self deprecating.

It's interesting to hear Meyer and Bennet talk about Shatner and Nimoy. Saying that Shatner had no personal ego but was only fiercely protective of Kirk, but then how Shatner only agreed to back down on some issues when Bennet flattered Shatner about how he was ageing like Spencer Tracy and should embrace it as Tracy's heir. And how Shatner hated the first script until Meyer re-write it so Kirk was always the first character through the door, and suddenly Shatner loved it.

Still going through special features in the background. I would have liked the bit on movie props to be expanded more. It was interesting and something I hadn't seen much on. Unfortunately it was really short.

Haven't watched anything but the movie yet, but it's absolutely gorgeous. So glad that we have a proper restoration of this one at last, particularly with the director's cut additions. The shots of the Enterprise re-used from TMP are making me really, really want that one to be restored next (even over III, which is my second favorite of the TOS movies!).

Alright, so I finally found one single solitary brick-and-mortar store within an hour's drive that has this in stock. They better still have it when I go there tonight or tomorrow! :scream:
