Disco is prone to dropping F-bombs.

I don't think anyone should assume that's not going to happen on Picard at this point. In fact the L which is for Language in that rating almost assures it's going to happen or something similar.

Didn't they do it twice in the same scene for comic effect? I can't recall any more.

That's all I can remember. I don't see it as "prone" since it's not like they are swearing every other word, or something. I was more taken aback by "The Witcher's" use of it than on Discovery.

Tilly said “that’s fucking cool,” then there was this dramatic pause, as if to say, ‘OMG, they just said FUCK in Star Trek!!!’, then Stamets agreed and said, “yeah, it is fucking cool.” Perhaps it was for comic effect, although I found it more annoying than humorous.

They're like kids with a new toy ("Did we just say this on Star Trek?")

If anyone's going to be dropping F-bombs on Picard, it'll probably be the young Turks (Rios, Musiker, etc.)

JL has his "merde". Seven is wound pretty tightly -- I can't see someone as controlled as she is going off with the F-bombs (she's a cold-blooded killer who prefers to let her guns do the talking).

Swearing and Star Trek have a long history together...

(And yes, this was a big deal in 1966)

I don't believe so. The Titan's design from the novels has already been used in IDW comics and STO, and they didn't have to pay royalties, so it would be quite odd if CBS had to,

Depends on licensing agreement. If license agreement covers all non-TV media, then no extra money changes hand. For Movies/TV/Streaming, I’m sure there is special stipulation.

Since CBS owns all Star Trek anyway, wouldn't that include the Titan's design from the novels?

"Owns" and "royalties" are separate things.

Prone to? They said it twice in one episode and then never again. That’s hardly prone to.

CBS owns the complete rights to the Luna Class design. That was part of the contest’s rules, the designer gets squat out of it other than pride.

It was also the same for the Design the Enterprise-F contest for Star Trek Online.

Except in the case of the ENT-F contest, any of the runner up designs are allowed to be used by Cryptic (and presumedly CBS) as well, and they have used 1 or 2 since the original contest.

However, that doesn’t preclude CBS from making
completely different designs for the ships if they ever choose to show them in STP. They own the designs but aren’t beholden to use them.

Ah that’s cool. Didn’t know the specifics of this contest. Figured it was another Nick Locarno situation.

The blowback from Disco S1's Klingons has left Kurtzman's people playing it safe: All the other aliens are very close to their previous versions (Borg in Picard, Cardassians, Morn's people and Trill in Disco S3) so I cant imagine them wanting to deviate too much from an established (albeit in tie-in material and merchandise only) design. The registry of the novelverse Titan was used in the TNG-R version of "Future Imperfect"

Maybe Standards and Practices got after them? ("What are you doing? Had we wanted that stuff, we would've brought in Quentin Tarantino!")

It's streaming, not TV. They can do whatever they want.

Disney now owns Deadpool. But don’t believe for a second next Deadpool movie is going to be anything less than R rating.

Who owns what makes no bearing on its rating.
