NFL Football 2009

So until next September this thread doesn't have to hear

San Diego Super Chargers
or
I'll take Warner over Farve anyday

Glad that's settled. :cool::techman:

No...but what about MANNING vs FARVE..thats the new debate...

Rob

That's a simple one. I'd take Manning anyday. Put Manning on the Vikings and I think he would be better than Farve with that receiving core.

As for today, very disappointed in the Chargers. I think they need to get rid of their Kicker. 3 misses today and there were shades of 2004. That's probably not their only problem, but it may be one of them.

Agreed. There is no "Manning vs." anybody. It's Manning, then everyone else. And I say that as a Patriots fan.

I'm just glad those of us with no rooting interest got one good game out of the weekend. I told my wife when it got to be later in the second half, the longer the Jets hang around, the more SD is gonna get tight and the more likely one fluky play (Greene 50+ yarder) would turn in NY's favor.

As a Pats fan, the AFC title game matchup doesn't thrill me. It's like the choice between a giant douche and a turd sandwich.

You don't get rid of the most accurate kicker in the game today, after one bad game. He missed three kicks all year long. Yes, it was the playoffs and it wasn't the first time he's missed a critical playoff kick. That bites hard. But today it was a host of errors besides Kaeding's misses. Rivers threw a couple of bad interceptions. The Charger defense gave up a 50+yd TD run just when they needed a stop the most.

But Kaeding IS definitely on thin ice.

And remember one of those attempts was from 57 yards.

Still, I would have cut him as soon as the final whistle blew.

How about those New York Football Jets? A very surprising game (to me anyway).

I don't follow the AFC that closely...what the hell has happened to LaDainian Tomlinson?? Is he injured or something? He was completely useless yesterday. He might as well not have suited up. That was very strange to see that San Diego has one of the worst running games in football.

LT has been declining for years. They use him on goal line situations, so he still has flashy looking TD totals, but his yardage and production are wayyy down. Lots of injuries catching up to him.

RBs have a short shelf life to start with. After 30, many of them drop off.

What is it with Kaeding missing FGs against the Jets in the playoffs. Yikes. I'd let the 58 yarder slide, but he just pushed the other two. They are wide from the second it left his foot.

I couldn't have been more pleased watching Dallas get worked over yesterday. As an ex-pat Minnesotan, the hatred of Dallas and its sports teams runs very deep.

Having said that, they ran and re-ran footage of the 1975 game where Drew Pearson shoved Nate Wright on the way to catching Staubach's Hail Mary pass, thereby cheating us out of a win. Many Vikings fans I've spoken with agree with me that yesterday's victory somehow exorcised that loss, the last touchdown especially. Strange business.

It is always odd to me that Dallas fans are completely oblivious to how much Minnesotans hate their sports teams...

I think the Cardinals looked exhausted against the Saints ... and who wouldn't, when playing against a team that'd had two weeks of rest, three for their starters—as opposed to the generous respite of five days and nineteen or so hours Arizona had to prepare for a road trip to and game in New Orleans.

Oh, well. If they'd not lost twice to the Niners, this wouldn't have happened.

Which is interesting to me in terms of how radically different the opinions of football fans can be because, being a Colts fan, I could have probably said the same had New England gotten there instead.

Well, insert any two teams you like.

It's the feeling when your team is out, and the two teams left are your biggest rival vs. a longtime divisional foe.

He seems to miss a lot of critical kicks though. If you can't do it in the Playoffs, then something is wrong. I do agree though, they probably aren't getting rid of him, and the defense was really a let down yesterday.

Debates aren't an issue. It's the never ending repeating of said phrases that is. ;)

A-fucking-men!

BTW, It was so satisfying watching the Cowboys lose that I might actually root for the Vikings (haven't decided yet).

I'm stoked, I just found out that I have off next sunday, so i will get to watch the game. Can't wait to see the Jets! beat the Colts again.

The media sure spent a lot of time reveiwing that game last week. I've seen that play from '75 dozens of times and I still don't think Pearson was guilty of offensive pass interference. Looked like incidental contact to me.

I'll be rooting for the Jets and the Saints this week. I'll be ice fishing, but we have the satellite dish up and running on the fish shack, so hopefully I'll get to watch some exciting games. But if they're as dull as most were last week, at least I'll have something to do.

For the AFC, I'll probably root for the Colts since I like Manning. However, there's a part of me that wants to root for the Jets for making it this far when they shouldn't have by most accounts. For the NFC, I'm not sure who I want to cheer for. I want to do the Vikings, but I'm still on the fence on how I feel about Favre. I guess I'll just root for a good game.

I'm not really into football but I will be cheering for the Jets. It'll keep me occupied until Spring Training starts. Plus, the Jets used to play at Shea, and I've been there. :)

Side note: There's never been a Jets v. Giants Super Bowl, has there?
