NFL Football 2009

Congratulations, Jets. I don't know what happened to the Chargers at the end, but the Jets deserved this win regardless. The Chargers really only had one or two convincing drives in the entire game, that's just not enough.

And that's game. Brilliant play call with the quick count, and big hole caused by Manggold (from OSU :D) and company. But who could have predicted that Kaeding would have such a terrible game? :(

This game was almost as much fun as the Arizona / Green Bay game, just in a different way. I loved good, solid defense as much as I do offensive fireworks.

Boy, do Phillip Rivers, The Chargers offense, and LaDanian Tomlinson, suck.

Ravens and Bellichik, and now the Chargers, are out, so I'm good. :techman:

Charger fan here...Got to give it to the jets...they were very good. Chargers were flat footed where as the jets looked inspired...I think they go into the Colt came as the underdogs, but you never know...

Based on early futures markets trading, these are the early probabilities that online gamblers are giving each of the four remaining teams to go all the way and win the Super Bowl:

Colts 42%
Saints 30%
Vikings 17%
Jets 11%

These guys usually know their business..... but the way the Jets have been playing defense is giving them some serious chances to cause some noise.

Holy balls....!!! Footballs, that is... ;) Until this weekend, I had NEVER had the NFL playoffs go 100% my way! The Steelers never got in, the Pats were KO'd in the first round, and the Cowboys were as humiliated today as I've seen them in recent years! So, now we have the Colts vs. Jets & Saints vs. Vikings! I can't lose!

I'd prefer that the Colts represent the AFC against either the Saints or the Vikings. Yet, even having the Jets in the Super Bowl would be historically more fun than if it had been the Chargers, as the Jets are the team with the longest current drought in-between Super Bowl appearances (41 years!). To get into the Super Bowl, the Jets must first beat the Colts, which is ironically just what they did when they reached Super Bowl III (back during the time of the NFL/AFL era when such a matchup was possible). In fact, of the teams that are left, it is the Colts (most recently the champions of Super Bowl XLI) who are the only ones to have reached the Super Bowl since the 1970's! By contrast, the Saints are one of the five remaining franchises who've never made it to the big dance.

I would love to see a Jets Vikings superbowl. If for no other reason than the Farve drama story that would go with it.

That'd be pretty cool. There could also be some drama involved if it comes down to the Colts & Saints, since Peyton Manning would in that scenario be playing against his dad's old team.

Surprised no one's mentioned this yet:

Scary stuff if you watch the video. RIP Gaines.

I would hate to see a Jets/Vikings Superbowl for the exact same reasons listed above--the networks would inevitably play up Favre's history instead of focusing on the game and two teams no one would ever have expected to get that far at the beginning of the season.

Also a good thing I didn't bet on Sunday's games because I would have lost a ton of money since I would've put it on Dallas and San Diego. Nate Kaeding picked a hell of a game to have his worst outing ever, continuing the Chargers' habit of choking in the playoffs...gotta remember that for next year.

And it would be such a sweet victory in such a story if the Jets beat the Vikings in the superbowl.

And of course Colts-Vikings would have the Favre vs. Manning storyline....showdown between a quarterback who has not missed a game since Bill Clinton was president vs. a quarterback who has not missed a game since the first George Bush was president, between a guy who currently holds every passing record in existence and a guy who will eventually surpass all of those records if he keeps up his current pace.

One of the reasons I don't want to see a Jets/Vikings Superbowl. I'm sick of the Favre lovefest as it is.

I also don't want to see a Colts/Vikings Superbowl: The announcers would probably spend most of the game gushing over both Manning and Favre.

Not a big fan of the Saints, but I shudder at the thought of the Vikes in the Superbowl. And I don't wan't to see the Colts there either.

I can honestly say I'd be happy with whichever combination of teams ends up in teh Super Bowl. There are great storylines for everybody. I would like to see New Orlens make it simply because they've never been to a Super Bowl, while each of the other three teams has.

So until next September this thread doesn't have to hear

San Diego Super Chargers
or
I'll take Warner over Farve anyday

Glad that's settled. :cool::techman:
